• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hi everyone.

I just thought I would post a link to my new flight sim project I have just embarked upon. The Extra 300L.
This is just such an exciting aircraft and one I have always wanted to do and I felt now was the time to do it.
I have started a blog in which I will be showing all the steps I take to accomplish this. I hope you will follow along and please offer your comments.
Enjoy.

Very much looking forward to this! :D

Will it be freeware or payware? From the looks of it so far, it could be payware, and then some.

Wow, that's a lot of 3D detail! :D I don't know if it isn't a bit too much for FS... But I'll leave that to the experts...
Looking awesome anyways!

is the caging REALLY needed? most of it will be covered by the actual fuselage, showing a few bits in the VC if there is going to be a VC, unless you are doing ultra realistic damage mapping I cant understand why you do the cage

Because, it's cool!! On a more serious note, the impact on frame-rates may be a little much. You must have some detailed plans for the aircraft!

Well, I guess I could say is ANY of this needed?
There is a stock Extra 300 that comes with FSX.
And I guess I could tell A2A why bother with that new cool Piper J3 cub...FSX already comes with one.

Believe me..I am very much aware of the FPS issue. Anyone who creates any mod is. However, I want to have my cake and eat it too.

I'm sure you know this, but it's a 'simple' enough aircraft to mean that unless you do something really stupid (which you clearly won't) then you won't have any concerns over performance polygon wise.

Lol, if you're going to make every bolt and nut of that plane you might as well forget about FSX and sell it as a movie prop, like many professional modelers do. I once saw an AH-64 for $2000 and it had a LOT less internal detail.
But, yeah, the plane's looking pretty nifty!

Looks like it. If you are patient enough, I'm thinking of making the 330 series as my second project, after the Sukhoi is finished.

Racer if you care to, you can actually go to Mesa, Az and fly an Extra 300L. I did it and it was amazing. Should give you plenty of inspiration.
