• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSX find bgl concerning an area

Hello; I need to move/delete some objects, runways but I don't remember the concerned bgl files; I think there is a tool to display all bgl concerning an given area. Thanks for help; Pierre

Instant Scenery can display the names of all the library and placement BGL files in the area. As for airport files (AFD - runways, etc.) the ICAO code for the airport is almost always in the file name.

Indeed, as Tom stated above, one can find placed scenery objects with Flight1 Instant Scenery "Labels" > “Show Objects From All BGLs” feature.

One can find scenery "Area" folders and Base Files via this procedure:

https://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/threads/redrawing-the-coastline.455712/post-905322scenery file "Area" folders for FSX

Assuming you are still working at:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saint-Pierre_Pierrefonds_Airport

...You must ID the airport FSX "Area" in the Base Files grid:

https://www.prepar3d.com/SDKv6/sdk/world/terrain/terrain_overview.html#Base File Information

If you open the FSX default airport in ADE, the status bar at the bottom of the workspace provides references to that Airport "Area". ;)

Thanks for answer; IS is useful to retrieve objects ; I remember the tool I mention could display all bgl used, cvx, ... probably it was for fs 2004.
My problem with caused by an airport file (FMSG) I had created. In FSX runway displays with overrun, but I have no overrun in AFX. Curiously, when opening my airport file with ADE, I found this overrun. So, I have deleted the runway and created a new one; all is ok. However, It's curious that the same file is different in AFX and ADE???
Other question: I work so far with IS2 and plan to buy IS3; I have FSX Acceleration and read it doesn't work; could you confirm if I can use IS3? Thanks. Pierre

IS2 also had a "Labels" feature, that I encouraged the developer to implement from existing IS capabilities during its Beta testing process.

When I get my FS main computer rebuilt and upgraded, I can take a look at both the AFX and ADE versions, and offer feedback on that.

IS3 does also work with FSX SP2 (Acceleration is SP2 compatible as is P2Dv1.4x, 2.x, 3.x.

However IS3 is not compatible with FSX-SE Steam Edition.
