• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MSFS20 First Project - Small Airfield

Was quite a few days because i had to do lots of small work to polish, that took me way more time as i would have thought. Additionally i lost some of my Substancepainter project files, what means im stuck with what i have or have to do those objects from scratch.... not something i imagine i would do soon.

But i make progress. Not want to take my mouth too full but this week should be release finally.

I filled up the airport with a handful of ppl from Daves Library (optional) to give it some life.

Also did many behind the scenes things. I cant wait that the weather here gets better so there is life on the airfield, atm i can only place in what i see and that isnt too much... since noone is flying.

Also improved the lights and made them smaller and warmer in tone. And did some decal work on some of the models.

Hello :)

I really want to say thanks to all the individuals who added some valuable info in the forum over the last year since MSFS release. That did teach me a lot and ive implemented all kinds of things by now.

Like the dynamic parasols that react to weather or time. Things that only appear in certain months. And now also the runway-sign based on wind direction ^^
Basically the whole "Visibility" Topic was implemented, at least most things as far i can see.

Just have to change the fonts, i think the 07 is another one than the 25... the C is different irl too.

Oh, and we have the pool here now too (its there irl, yes. This is also dynamic of course and only shows in summer ^^ Too bad one doesnt have access to scenery-objects in terms of modelBehavior. That means the people from Daves library are too static and i probably wont use it myself, it breaks immersion if the ppl are in a missing pool, or in cold months. Seems i have to do some ppl myself one day. But that needs a lot of learning still....

Congratulations ! Great work, looks professional 👍 And an impressive learning curve too.

From the shadow seen on the hangar, right behind the pool, I would guess that the corrugated-metal wall has been fully modelled ?

You added some traces of wear to most of your textures, and that makes everything look even more realistic. Did you achieve this by using Substance Painter ?

Thank you Flywell :)

I use substance painter yes. The corrugated metal on the hangar is done with normal/height map, wich has its weak angles and it's stronger ones. Some angles are flat, seems the pic shows it nearly like modeld though.

The doors are "real". This was among the first objects I've done, i had not the slightest idea of how many polys are good so I only did half the part with real gaps (not saying that i have a good idea now hehe).

But i think I will model the corrugated metal parts one day. Should be fine, i guess, and not add too many polys.

These doors have a real gap.

I released it :-)

But the wind stuff is still buggy it seems. One person said the windsocks direction is 90 deg off and i seem to have mixed up the directions of the runway sign.

Posted those pics that show the sign in 3 discord channels with hundreds of ppl and noone saw the error hehe.

Will be fixed next update.

So it came to an "end". Not really an end because there will some updates but at least the biggest step is made.
Thanks again everyone, without this forum nothing would have been possible.

Have a good landing Cedrice ^^ From next month on (sim time) you can take a hop into the pool too hehe

Btw, @TiAr where can one find that livery ^^? Would be perfect for the main pic :-)

Thank you for sharing very good work👍, this Vertigo livery is part of the package available on FS.to (in General Aviation)

Your welcome. :-)

Btw, with the livery i meant the one TiAr posted on the first page, its the one that "belongs" to this airport. The paragliders use it to jump.

But on second sight, it seems hes in P3D. Doesnt look like MSFS clouds, more like ASCA or Skyforce or something like that. And the plane i dont see in MSFS too :-(

Hello together :-) Long time no see.

Flying around this arifield can be quite boring, so i will add some VFR orientation buildings around the area.
Not super far yet but have already some pics and work done.
