• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hi All,
in MSFS Contact Points are in section [CONTACT_POINTS] of Flight_model.cfg.
How can I see their positions graphically using ModelConverterX?
Thanks

Hi,

At the moment MCX only reads the aircraft.cfg file. If the name has changed for MSFS I would have to update that.

Hi,

I had a look at the code now and it was relatively easy to add this. So the next development release will read the flight_model.cfg file as well and render the points defined in it.

Hi Arno,
looking at changeLog.htlm I seen that from now MCX can read Flight_model.cfg, I clicked on "Show CFG points" icon but nothing happens and contact point are not shown.
Thanks.

Hi,

I only tested with some default MSFS aircraft and there it worked. Is the flight_model.cfg file in the same folder as the aircraft.cfg file for this model?

Hi,

Which default aircraft did you test with? I tried the C208 (asobo-aircraft-208b-grand-caravan-ex) for example and that one works fine.

Hi,

I did some more testing and I found out that reading the CFG points was not very robust. I have modified MCX now so that it should handle more situations correctly. MSFS is really more complex here with all the extra configuration files.

I will push a new development release later today, but I still think the read points are not always correct.

Hi,

I did a last check this evening and the model and the CFG points were not aligned correctly, they were rotated 180 degrees relative to each other. So I have fixed that as well now. The next development release with all these fixes should be online in around 30 minutes.
