• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSX:SE Flightbeam Static Aircraft.

Greetings, If anyone can help; Flightbeam KPHX, has 3 static USAF KC-135 on their Military Ramp. The problem is, they've placed active parking spaces right smack-dab in the middle of these 135's; which means, every time I open their KPHX, there's a US Air A320, or some other Aircraft(s) parked right on top of these 135's. I've deleted these parking spots with ADE; compiled, and saved the Airport. But when I open up their KPHX, there is No change; Aircraft are still parked on top of each other. Can someone help me out with this? I'm sure I'm missing something small; something I'm Not doing; I'm new to ADE; nothing like Lee Swordy's. Thank you in advance.....Claude.

Assuming you have actually changed the file, saved it properly and made it active in the Scenery Library, then the original copy of the file must also still be active - perhaps taking precedence over your version.

Gadgets, of course I've changed the file. "Saved it properly?" What does that mean Sir? Is there any other way to save an edited Airport? If there is I'd like to know. I'm asking for help. Also, the KPHX is active in the FSX scenery library. The original FSX SE, KPHX BGL File I've removed, and placed in a secure folder. I'm looking for a specific resolution to my problem; not assumptions that you think I've done or not done; respectfully. Your response doesn't answer any of my questions regarding my issue; Thank you.......

I don't mean to start a war, but you didn't tell us anything about how/where you saved the airport nor did you mention making your new scenery active. So, asking me how else you could have saved it seems a bit premature - especially since YOU raised doubts about you competence with ADE

You asked for help. I identified three essential steps that you have left rather vague and suggested maybe, somehow, it was not your file that is not being executed. Sounds like help to me. Perhaps someone else will be willing to step in.

C'mon Brother; I was cordial, although to the point. Start a war?? I'm looking for answers; not assumptions; nothing more; and I even gave you a thank you at the end......Thank you again for your response in the matter.

If you opened up their airport BGL in ADE, made the needed edits, compiled the updated BGL with ADE and placed it in their scenery directory (either replacing or removing the original) and reloaded the scenery library, it should work.

If you did all that and the issue is still there, it may either be a conflict with another scenery or a bug with ADE. Knowing what version of ADE you are running may help.

check the date and time that the bgl was compiled and see if you have updated it and that you havent saved it elsewhere

Well if you are familiar with AFCAD then you might expect that saving in ADE generates a bgl file that can be used in the sim. This is not the case and you need to compile the project to get a bgl file to put in an active scenery folder. Also it is generally proper to remove the original source bgl to avoid conflict. Sims use a priority order based on folder and alpha sort: Priority Matters | Airport Design Editor Help | Help Site (screenstepslive.com) If the naming or placement of your new bgl puts it below the original in the priority order then the original will trump your update and you will not see the changes. I make no assumptions other than to try and get to a common understanding of the issue.

Good Morning to you Chris, Paul, and Scruffy Duck; Thank you so much!! These were the answers I was looking for. Ok, I did remove the FS original PHX BGL File. I opened up ADE and opened the Flightbeam PHX and did find that their original "Was" still in the scenery folder; even after I made my edits; I removed it. Now, I found the Flightbeam PHX which I edited with ADE in my ADE-FSX-Projects folder; they are KPHX_ADE_CP3, it says, it's an AD4 File. The second is, KPHX_ADE_CP3.ad4, but there is no KPHX.BGL File. Is one of the two aforementioned files supposed to replace the BGL File inside the Flightbeam scenery folder? My question, where is the Flightbeam PHXBGL File that I edited? My edits did take affect; PHX opens up with no problems in FS and the Aircraft aren't on top of the static 135's; but there is no BGL File in the Flightbeam scenery folder. You Men are Outstanding! And I appreciate all your help.

I just found the Flightbeam BGL File in the Add-On scenery folder. So there's no conflict, do I drop this BGL File into the Flightbeam scenery folder where I removed their original that I made the edits to? It would go right above the RED DOT; see screenshot. Thanks again....Claude.

I would just drop the new BGL in the Flightbeam scenery folder. Then you don't have to worry about adding one file to your scenery library. You could also keep the old file in the directory and just change the extension of it (ex. filename.bgl.bak). Then you would still have the original in case you need it.
