• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Forcing AI Planes to Use Multiple Runways

Hi all,
Is there anyway I can force the AI Planes to use multiple runways rather than the one that it is closest to? Typically, this causes a large amount of congestion which doesn't allow the planes to takeoff. So for example, say I had runway 9 and runway 36. Would it be possible to have the AI planes use both runways simultaneously?

It is possible in some cases at certain airports.

The airport must be evaluated based on the rules of runway assignment. Closing one end of a runway and opening another end is not always the correct way to make the runways work better.

The answer is not a simple yes you can or no you cannot. The following list is just some of what needs to be looked at.

What airport are you working with
Is it a stock airport or 3rd party
Does it use FS runway textures or custom made runways
Are all runways parallel or are there crosswind runways at this airport
What is the largest jet and smallest prop type plane that use this airport
What approaches exist for all the runways
etc.
etc.

A simple technique which works in some cases is to find the runway that is in use but has few landings. Then I close all other runways to takeoffs, and force the departing planes to go there. This can also work with 2 takeoff runways, etc.
