• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FS Design Studio

Cool, I have FSDS, G-Max and Blender. Blender definitely more comprehensive I know that much. I did take a course in Turbo-cad some ten years ago and designed a house I built with 3D Architect back in the nineties so, with that said I am hopelessly lost! Does anybody offer a college course on these programs or is this going to be OJT? Jeepers Creepers FSX Design for Dummies? Jees! I will amays my friends just by opening the programs!

Well, I have been opening ,reading and playing with buttons on both G-Max and Blender. In the end I would like to be able to do something with both but Blender does looks like the way to go. The last time I even looked at Turbo-cad the program was like $300.00 now this Blender was free. Unbelievable. I will read more of the help manual and the begin the relentless bombardment of questions which I am sure you will get a kick out of.:wizard:

Ahh, now the torch must be passed as Max is my weapon of choice. Note that there is a Blender section in the forums here. Go there now should you...hmmmm?

Actually, since I have your attention would you be available to help me with G-Max? Most all the scenery I have been working with in my Instant Scenery the designers used FSDS or G-Max. I never even heard of Blender until yesterday. Also, I have seen in many of my aircraft the designers used G-Max. Didn't Kirk Olson use G-Max to design his aircraft off the top of my head?

I just looked to learn a little about you N2056. I see your from San Diego. My wife and I go down to see her sister in Ervin every year. Last summer they took me the USS Midway! What a treat! You can still smell the gun grease in the hanger deck! I live in Reno myself so I do get the Air races every summer. Pit passes. box seats the works. I have several models designers have made of the real racing aircraft and I have pictures of the real ones to match the models. If you have any of MAIW's I have the C130 NG Highrollers sitting right where they are at KRNO for real!

One more note on the Midway. When I got back last summer I recreated the best I could with Instant Scenery placed a static copy of the Midway in my FSX and several of the same static aircraft on the flight deck and in the hanger deck from pictures I took except for the exact livery but the same aircraft in their relative location

Well if you're up for you're up to watching tutorials and also doing a bit of exploring yourself, the Blender tutorial series by Krispy1001 (forum member here at FSDeveloper aswell) on youtube (link: https://www.youtube.com/user/kpgamemods)

I believe his oldest video explains the very basics of Blender. I for one use this program and dispite it being free it's quite comprehensive and, and don't shoot me for saying it here, it can compete with 3DS MAX. Learning it was relatively easy. I spend my early days working with G-Max and I couldn't understand that program for a long while. After that I tried Blender and I think I manage modelling pritty well by now. As previously said by N2056 there's an active Blender community right here with people who are pritty much always willing to help others out.
