• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FS9 777 Conversion Problems

I have converted the default FS9 to FSX and added the additional N! and Tyre animations

I have tried to add a landing light efffect to the nose gear as a taxi light using the add effect fuction in MCX and then drag ad drop to the correct part. Whilst the the actual light appears as a spot in the correcr place and moves with the gear the beam does not show. Also withi MCX the dragged/dropped effect does not show ay orientation axes.

When using the rudder and elevator percent key animations as opposed to the basic rudder and elevator animations these appear to work correctly until you go to the maximum extent of travel using key strokes when the animations suddenly jump back to the central postion. For now I have stuck with the non '_percent' animations although the rudder key shows up as deprecated whe compiling.

Any ideas?

Hi,

Did you name the effect fx_landing? It must be this name; do not use the custom name MCX creates. You will then need a custom XML entry to turn it on and off with the taxi switch.
Did you make sure the green axis of the attachpoint is pointing forward? Otherwise the spot may shine at the sky.

Here is a tutorial on the subject:

I have seen the rudder and elevator problem before, but not in the later development release versions of MCX - do not use the Stable version. In MCX are the rudders fully left at keyframe 0 and fully right at keyframe 100? If it is still happening, you may need to edit the animation keyframes to make sure that the animation is correct.

Re Lighting

I have named the effect fx_landing and when attached to a fixed part, eg wing LE everything is fine. However when I attach to a moving part, eg front gear, only a sport of light shows in 'spot view' but no beam as happens when attached to the fixed wing LE

Is the green attachpoint axis pointing forward, when the gear is in the lowered position?

None of the orientation axes appear when attached to the nose gear. If I drag and drop the effect to the wing or fuselage in hierarchy mode the axes appear. If I create a new effect on the fuselage or wing the axes appear but if i then drag and drop this to the nose gear the axes disappear.

I know the axes are effective when on the effect is on the nose gear as as changing the orientation affecs the brightnessof the'ligh spot' in spot view mode although the beam does not show.

In my experience if the axes do not appear, the light splash will not appear either in FS. So you have to find a way to keep the axes.

I have not tried to ADD an attachpoint to an animated part, since my models already contain one. So I don't know if this is possible at this time using MCX.

Did you try adding this attachpoint *before* the conversion to FSX format? If so, did you try adding it *after* the conversion?
