• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hey,

Me again, I have come across an error I have not seen before. Perhaps someone could shed some light.

Code:
Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600]
(C) Copyright 1985-2001 Microsoft Corp.

F:\Scenery\EGPH - Edinburgh - Turnhouse V1R1\Source\XML>BglComp.exe EGPH_CONFIGU
RATION.xml

Parsing document: EGPH_CONFIGURATION.xml

INTERNAL COMPILER ERROR: #C2034: XML Parse Fatal Error (line, column, error)

ERROR: 2, 21, Names beginning with the three letter sequence x, m, l, in any cas
e combination, are reserved for use by XML and XML-related specifications.
INTERNAL COMPILER ERROR: #C2430: Unrecoverable error parsing XML!
INTERNAL COMPILER ERROR: #C2006: Parse failed (0x80004005)
INTERNAL COMPILER ERROR: #C2003: Failed to process file: EGPH_CONFIGURATION.xml

This will compile. Respect case-sensitive'ness + close the airport-tag.

Code:

Any time the compiler gives a error always look for the following section in the first part of the error.

INTERNAL COMPILER ERROR: #C2034: XML Parse Fatal Error (line, column, error)

ERROR: 2, 21,
#C2034 is a MS code but look at the next line

ERROR: 2 is the line number and 21 is the column.

If you use a freeware XML editor such as Cooktop 2.5 then in the Edit drop down menu "Goto Line" and put in number 2

the XML editor will take you to the exact line that has the problem.

I have XML files with over 100,000 lines of code. One slip of a > character or anything and I would be looking for errors all day.

Goto Line feature is a must when XML files are very large.
