• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

[FSX] Light Method

I spend a lot of time working on other options, even Bill's setting on his light.
I still cannot find a better solution than this.
I will conclude my setting here.
Texture
Diffuse texture= Totally Black, no alpha
Self illumination (night texture)= The light in black background, no alpha
That's all, no specular map no other texture even fresnel ramp.
Other Material Setting in Gmax
Blend diffuse by diffuse alpha (Can be set to true or false. I found that no effect at all. It is understandable that alpha is not involve in this process at all)
Allow Bloom
Allow Emissive bloom
Source Blend=One
Destination Blend= One
Final alpha Multiply= around 0.2
Double Side
Assume Vertical Normal
No shadow
No Base material specular

Other than these are the default settings.
Please discuss if you don't get the same result.

I'm getting the clouds and trees (objects with textures with alpha channels) showing in-front of my plane of light. Solid objects are behind still, I'm going to play about with the final alpha blend value. Any ideas otherwise?

No, I don't think we have a solution here.
I have been through those options again, changing both destination and source blend. Almost 30+ combinations but still cannot find a better one.

Diffuse texture, black or white has not effect at all.

Hy guys, where can I find a pdf tutorial or wiki to start my "lights" in FSX? I need ground poly illumination, taxilight, and ILS landing lights.

I read all the thread but got a bit confused, you spoken about a pdf tutorial or a wiki, but can't find it, sorry. I can't know where to start from.

Thanks a lot in advance.
