• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSX FSX numbskull help

Greetings! I hope someone (anyone) here can help me.

In a highly abridged story, I was jumping into the deep end of the pool when attempting to fix a default airport in FSX, and downloaded ADE to get into the airport data.

Regardless of why (I can explain if someone asks, it's a longer story than necessary at the moment), I bade a backup copy of the FSX scenery file I was dealing with (APX26210.bgl) and when I loaded FSX, and saw that my changes didn't make a difference, I guessed (incorrectly) that it didn't effect the .bgl file at all, and I deleted the back up.

And I'm an OCD freak, and I immediately emptied my recycling bin. Have done that for years, now I learn not to.

I didn't realize that the .bgl file I removed and edited held data for an AREA of scenery, so ALL of the north-central Florida airports are gone, from Jacksonville to Orlando. The sites are there, like the grass and buildings, but the runways and taxiways themselves, the data, anything, is gone. I can't even choose them in the free-flight area. I truly thought the .bgl file was airport specific. Looking at the flight planner map, there's a giant gap in airports, although the airspace rings are still there. Hence, it was a newb, numbskull mistake.

Long story short, is there ANY way someone can lead me to where to get APX26210.bgl again? Or if someone could be so kind as to copy theirs (Microsoft/Microsoft Games/Flight Simulator X/Scenery/0302/APX26210.bgl) and send it to me?

I've learned from my mistake and I can't fly in my local (I live in north central Florida) without having my normal airports lol

Thank you all SOO much for reading this, and hopefully rescuing me!

Brandon

You should be able to make backup of your instillation, then re install. If its steam, you have a provision in your steam account that will do this, OR drag out your FSX disk ! Keep your finger off the delete button !!! - Johnman

Both Steam and legacy FSX have a provision to repair an installation. If APX6210.bgl were removed and probably even if it were just modified, the repair algorithm would replace it.
