• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hi all
I have a problem with the FSX DC-3 Gmax sample http://code.msdn.microsoft.com/FSXGMaxDC3
I downloaded it and exported it straightaway (with the animation export checked)
But for some reason the Alierons and some of the flaps aren't moving in FSX see here:

Just wondering if you could help or maybe fix it for me :)

Thanks!

Troels

Did you key-frame animate and use the Animation Tool to add the animation reference script(s) to each part prior to exporting?

I just open it in gmax and then exported it... All animations were done by those who made the downloade ;)
It's the exact same model as the 3DS MAX DC3 file provided in the SDK

Got it fixed my self...
Just needed to select "export skin" in the export tool :)

Ah, I've never gotten an explanation as to why there even is such an option in the export tool, much less why it isn't checked by default.

As for the DC3, I've been well aware of it since before it was done, having had a (small) hand in the conversion process... ;)

and of course, it was available for months before Microsoft finally put it up on its site... ;)

HOWEVER, going back to the solution of the problem, is "export skins" required to be clicked when there is a texture applied to an animated part (I think not), or just when the part is animated and part of an IK bones system?

The latter, which is likely why it's not checked off by default...

On the other tentacle, if there's not any animation/IK bones, nothing will be exported, so there's really no use for the optional checkbox!

I've exported "regular" animated projects with and without the box checked, and there was absolutely no difference whatever between the two project's X files...
