• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

GMax Quad Menus don't work! Please help!

Ok, I am getting back to modeling in GMax, but when I tried right click to change the view from wireframe to facet/solid/whatever its called, I the quad menu doesn't show up.:banghead:

I've tried restarting my computer, but this has not resolved the issue.:banghead:

Has anybody had this problem before? Does anybody have any solutions to this problem?

You right click the view label (i.e. Top, Left, Perspective, etc) to change that, there's nothing on the quad menu that relates to views afaik. Sounds like you want "Smooth + Highlights".

You only get a quad menu when you have parts selected BTW, and it really isn't even a quad menu unless you're in a sub-object mode of a mesh (vertex, polygon, etc).

In the default keyboard setup, F3 toggles wireframe/shaded views and F4 toggles edged faces in shaded view.

hairyspin, thank you! While this doesn't solve the problem, it does let me keep moving with my work for now.

JRobinson, sorry, I did not give an accurate description, but I think you still understood what I meant.

You are correct that I am trying to r-click on the view label to change between wireframe and shaded views. When I try to do that, the menu that normally appears when I do so is not appearing. Nothing happens at all. When I r-click on the toolbar, a menu pops up {Customize,--, Command Panel, Tab Panel, Main Toolbar} there.
As for the quad menu, that is also not showing up, even when I have an object selected.

Basically, it looks like r-click does not work in the workspace

Mine does a weird thing once in a while where I right click a viewport and the menu just flashes briefly and goes away. I think the menu would still be there if you just knew where to click. Think it's a d3d issue of some sort, seems it has something to do with having the sim running at the same time or if I start gmax immediately after closing the sim but before aero starts back up. Restarting gmax always seems to fix that one though.

Have you tried other drivers under "Preferences > Viewports"? Hope you get it sorted.

Jim

I got that too, a flashy quad menu when I installed gmax in laptop Win7. I could not find the solution. So I switched to another computer with WinXP. When I came back to my laptop later, the problem went away. I didn't know either what cause it.

That's odd...

I left it alone for a week, and when I tried it, everything works normally.
I know its not really solved, but for the moment, it's no longer an issue

Wow, was this really in May?!?!

Anyway, I know this is a pretty dead thread, but I resolved the issue. I figured I would post it in case anybody else was ever affected by it.

I deleted the old Gamepack within GMax, and copied it from the SDK. Simple enough, and it works now.

In my case the source problem wasn't gmax, but the windows-keyboard-settings. I compared 'em on the two W7 machines and padahh: on the one machine where the quadmenu worked correctly, the already set key for 'decimal delimitter' inside the region-settings/keyboard-settings/numbers-tab/decimal delimitter (I hope my translation into English is good enough for you to identify) was a "." (period). At the other machine (where no quadmenu appeared) it was a "," komma-sign. I Changed it from "," to "." in a next step. Finally I also rechecked the *.qmo file(s) - you can open it with a simple text editor - and changed the wrong set delimitters into a period-sign. Next I restarted Gmax and: voila it worked! Quadmenu available again.
Hope this may help anyone else too.
