• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Having issues excluding

I am trying to exclude generic buildings and is not working is not removing the builds.

I create the exclusion rectangle click on ALL and put it over the area I want it to be removed. I click compile put it on my scenery folder and when I load up FSX still there?

Nonetheless I removed manually all of them but have a problem with excluding a generic building that now appears in the water since I have made a new coastline. Tried to employ the same method but had the problems.

Is there any way around this?

Some structures need to be revealed first....

Sometimes, a stock airport will load without any generic building rectangles showing.

Using an exclusion rectangle brings up a dialog box which indicates you CAN exclude them, and it didn't work for me either.

If you load your stock airport, go to LISTS in the main menu, left click on Scenery objects and you get your list of structures....click on a generic building's little green square and you will now see where they are.

Now you can delete them as you see fit, or move them to the "right" place.

Is this FS9 or FSX? Excludes work a bit differently in each. Also having overlapping exclusions can cause problems.

The best way is as mentioned above. When ADE loads a stock airport it automatically creates micro excludes for all thescenery objects it finds at the airport. If you load a file that does not contain the scenery objects then you can use Tools > Load Stock Data to get the information and also create the excludes. Then it is only necessary to delete the ones you do not want.

However if a scenery object is outside a given radius from the airport reference point (based on the size of the airport) ADE will not load them.

Also be aware that some buildings are in fact autogen and not specific objects that can be removed by exclusion rectangles (especially in FSX).

Finally when working on an airport make sure that both ADE and FS have their scenery complexity set to Extremely Dense so that all possible objects show up in both places. ADE allows you to see what will be displayed at different complexity levels without opening the Sim but this should only be used once the airport design is completed. During design always set it to Extremely Dense.

Thanks a lot !!!
