• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

height problem

Forgive me if I am a bit thick (and I'm not in front of my ADE PC) but if I am in ADE and connected to FSX and have not yet created a new airport (which requires me to enter an airport altitude) where/how would I place a User Aircraft in ADE to get the altitude readout I need?

Or do I land in FSX and then what do I do to read my altitude in ADE?

klem

Not thick at all - you would need to use TCalcX in those circumstances :)

Many thanks for the various replies. All makes sense and I have now got the elevation, well, at least, the elevationS.

One last question, can an airport flatten be set on a slope? The area slopes from 16m down to 11m.

Unfortunately, FSX requires that the whole airport (runways, taxiways and aprons) be on a horizontal plane. However, you can create sloping polygons from the airport boundary to blend with the surrounding area.

Many thanks guys.

I hope to get off this thread now, especially as I have found the manual (doh! How about a link to it under Help?).

EDIT: I did ask a question here about creating sloping polygons but I just found threads referring to release notes and also selecting and editing Vertexes so I'll try that.

Thanks again.

So, one last question. The manual doesn't say how to make a polygon slope from one elevation to another as suggested by George. How do I do this (or is there somewhere I can read it up)?

Sorry about the manual - we are working on updating all the documentation. For information about sloping polys please check the release notes. From your Start Menu > All Programs > Airport Design Editor > Help and then the manual, tutorials and release notes are in there

The small bgl file created when changeing alt. Can i move this file to my project folder which is active and will change show? Being curious as i have 126 airports in Cuba im workin on and adding in the ones MS missed which is understandable considering the political climate. Mods is there a way to get me a USCG flag instead of the Cuba Flag?

And MODs, someone find this man a US Coast Guard flag, please.:D

As far as I know it is based on Country but let me find out :)

Unfortunately I am correct in my thinking - flags are releasted to a country (or state for some countries like the US)
