• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hello chaps,

I've been dabbling in ADE with the help of Tako_Kichi. A most excellent stress relief pass time and a brillant little proggie you chaps have.

So as is natural I have loaded up my old home airfield Humberside and started playing about with it with the help of Tako. Now everything was going well and I was having alot of fun until this cropped up. I include pics of ADE with how it looks in FSX. The problem is that a few concrete aprons are not showing and one random almost crown shape concrete apron has popped up out of nowhere.

Ive sent the file to Tako to have a quick look at and he said to post here, the layers are in the correct order and ive even deleted and redrawn just to be sure but no luck. Am I missing anything really obvious?

Witht he FSX shot ive circled in RED the missing bits and the green circle is the 'were the hell did this come from' part.

Thankyou in advance for any help anyone can give.

The first thing you should realise is that an asphalt apron overlayed on concrete will always overwrite the concrete. For asphalt surrounding concrete, you need to leave a "hole" for the concrete.

As for the bit of concrete "poping up", you probably have some taxiway segments defined as concrete.

Looking at the Generation-X photographic textures, it seemed to me that all of the aprons and runway 03/21 were concrete. Here is my version in ADE:

and in FSX:

Hey George thanks for that. I thought this may be the case.

I'm fiddling using google Earth as a base, I believe the images on there are 2003 vintage and have various works on going which I have tried to include in the form of various vehicles dotted about the place and some work at the end of 27.

Hi Lewis

The other problem that there is a bug in FSX. In theory path and parking links should not generate any surface, markings yes but no surface. This does not always happen correctly and we see odd bits of the wrong surface - usualyy concrete showing up. Open the settings dialog and on the general tab make sure that you have Auto Set Parking and Apron Links Surface checked. This will tell ADE to matche the underlying apron surface. You might still see the odd problem if such a link crosses different apron surface types and in that case you may need extra nodes in the link.
