• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hello!

Just wanted to say hello and introduce myself to you guys. First, thanks for allowing me use this forum. It has a wealth of information and intent to tab into it; and of course get well “edumacated”:). I’ve been around flight sims all my life. My flight simulator user experience dates back to the early 80s. I guess I’m an aviation junky. I’ve been flying for over twenty years now, and have logged over five thousand hours in civilian jet airplanes like the Boeing 727, Embraer E-190, and now the A320. I’m also a member of the 56th Virtual Fighter Wing for a little over two years now, flying the Viper with OF 4.5. It is supper cool! My favorite addons for FS are the Level-D 767, PMDG products, FlightZone Scenery, and now the best military airplane for FS I’ve ever seen, the VRS F-18E among others.

Now I’ve somehow developed a great interest in the development of scenery and airplanes for flight sims. Specifically, for FS2004, FSX, and Falcon. I want to learn this pretty much on my own and as a hobby. My question is: What programs are the most popular and best to use for this stuff? Are there any courses available to take specifically for this kind of development? Where do I start?

I’ve been reading some good threats on this forum and have downloaded Gmax with the other programs that go with it, as shown on one of the tutorials. The only one I can’t find is the FS2004 game pack. As I understand it, Gmax without this, can’t communicate with FS. I’ve also been using Abacus FSDS but I understand now, this is not the choice of professionals. Anyways, thanks again guys. I hope to share some information with you all. Any advice and help will be greatly appreciated. See Yah!
