• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hi guys. Im new at the forum and new in trying to use the FSX Planner. Tryiing to create an airpot at my location,ICA-PERU, that does not shown on FSX. Downloaded FSX Planner and maneged to create an XML file. That is as far as I can go. Wnen trying to complile I gat an error message saying that the system does not recognize the file?
Guess I must be making a ot of mistakes; for instance:
1.- I got the Latitude and Longitude elevations by going to Google and finding the airport: LaTITUDE: 14"2'23.77S and LONGITUDE: 75"45"28.38W,plugged them in and the Airport Data on the XML shows 0.0000000000 for both?
2.- The airport altidude above sea level is 1082.400 FT. and have entered it. Have the tower at same altitude, however I get an error reading that the tower's viewpoit altitude and view scereny are below ground or above 200 Ft?
Again I am a novice on this issues and need urgent help
Regards
Mameni

Right after clicking on the Compiler's FSX Planner tool I get the following message:
COMPILATION FAILED
C\BGL COMPILER SDK\ICA SPMI.BGL{The system can not find the file specified)

What operating system are you using? If this is Vista you may have problems with folder permissions

yes I do have Vista Ultimate. Can you tell me how to see if the folder permissions are OK?

Well I do not have Vista so I am not the best person to answer. It looks like you do not have permission to write to the SDK\Bgl compiler SDK. In The Compile dialog iun FSX Planner check what you have set for the destination folder. Make it something other than the SDK folder (if that is where it is pointing. Point it to a folder that you know you can write files to - word processor documents etc and then see if you can compile to that folder

OK I will check that. Just realized the folowing: I have 2 hard drives C and H. The XML files has been creatged in H. Can this be he problem?

Having two drives should not be a problem. As long as the folder that contains bglcomp allows for files to be written to it then you'll be okay. FSX Planner creates an XML file in the same directory as bglcomp, which bglcomp then compiles into the bgl file.

My friend I'm starting to go nuts. When you say "FSX Planner creates an XML file in the same directory as bglcomp, which bglcomp then compiles into the bgl file" let me ask you for my better understanding: FSX Planner has created the XML file in my H\Documents hard drive and I can retrieve it back and forth to modify it. That is a big step for me. Now what happends when I click on the FSX Planner Compile? and how is it that the DSK comes into action? sorry to bother you but I really would like this airport to come into life and this is my first time trying to accomplish this.

FSX planner uses the bglcomp.exe from the sdk to compile the xml to a bgl that you can then place in your scenery. FSX will not consume the xml directly.

Fine understood.Thanks. Can errors shown when compiling be the reason for not performing the compilation? because I do have some errors that I don't fully understand.

Also to tell you that checked permissions and they seem to be OK.

Errors when compiling will stop a bgl file being created. You need to let us know what the error messages are so that we can help with those

I am out of time today. Will get back to you on Monday with the errors. Is there a way to copy and paste the errors? tried to do this and failed.
Have a nive week end

Sorry - can't answer the question on copying the errors. Also I don't think FSXP has an error log but it would be worth checking in the application folder

Yes you can copy and paste the errors. The compile dialog within FSX Planner has a text box included in it. Tis text box is located at the bottom of the dialog. All output from the compilation process, most of which is generated form bglcomp, is displayed in this text box. You can select the text from that text box and copy it. Then paste the copied text in a post here so it can be reviewed.

Howdy Russell: back home to keep bothering you guys. If the Text Box that you mention is the white space where the compiling errors are displayed once the compilation has ended, well I simply can't copy and paste it. Once I select the errors and click the right's mouse on copy, it just does'nt let me and the copy windows does not open. Crazy no?

ANOTHER THING THAT SEEMS ODD TO ME: WHEN CHECKING FOR XML ERRORS AT FIRST I HAD MORE THAN ONE AT THE MOMENT THE XML IS FREE OF ERRORS. HOWEVER THE COMPILER FAILS TO COMPILE AND THE TEXT BOX SHOWS A LOT OF COMPILING ERRORS????

Try Ctrl C to copy the text. And please do not SHOUT. There is no need

Tried Control C to copy and nothing. Please keep in mind that I'm new to forums and if the capital letters mean or represent a SHOUT, then I have to apologize because it was not my intention.
What else can I do?

I do have the XML on my Documents folder. Is there a way to send to to you? would it help?
