• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Help to Change Gauges

I'm trying again, is there really no one who can help me change my FsDeveloper MSK T-17 gauges to more western style, like the Cessna 172.

You could always change the VC to that of the Cessna, then it would have Cessna gauges. Of course the interior would be that of a Cessna too.

Hi,

Thank´s for your answer, did you now to do it.? If will it be possible you can do it for me, beacuse I dont enything about XML files.

I can't give exact instructions because you don't mention which sim you are using. It can't be done in FS9.
1. In FSX or P3D first make a copy of your plane's folder and paste it back in.
2. Rename the copy by adding Cessna VC to the name of the folder.
3. Go to the Cessna aircraft folder and find the model folder inside that. In there you will find an MDL file with _interior in the name. This is the Cessna VC.
4. Copy it and paste it into the Cessna VC plane's model folder.
5. Then inside that folder double click the model.cfg file to open it. In there you will see a line with your plane's _interior MDL file in it.
6. Change the name of that _interior file to that of the Cessna _interior file. Save it.

Now in your Cessna VC plane's aircraft.cfg file, add Cessna VC to the end of each title= line, and to each model_variation= line.

Now find any textures in the Cessna's texture folder with VC or Virtual Cockpit in the name, and copy them. Paste them into your Cessna VC plane's texture folders If there are still textures missing when in the sim you can use ModelConverterX to find them. Import the Cessna's _interior MDL file (from the Cessna folder) into MCX. Then click the Material Editor button. All textures used will be listed on the left.

Finally, if the view in the VC is misplaced, use the Views section of your Cessna VC plane's aircraft.cfg file to place your eyepoint (i.e. where your eyes are) to where you want it to be.

Hope this helps,

Hi,

I use Prepar3D V5, when you wrothe Copy the planes folder, are the the whole folder off MSK FSI-17 you mean.? or is only the the map indside the map MSK FSI-17, hope you understand what I mean.

regards
Kurt

You are making a copy of the entire plane's folder, found in the SimObjects/Airplanes folder. For example, the default Aerostat folder is named 74K Aerostat. If you were doing this to that plane you would make a copy of that folder.

Unfortunately P3D does not contain a default Cessna, so you would need to find a different VC that has the gauges and gauge layout you want.
