• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSX:SE Help with P3D mdl to FSX mdl conversion

Hello everyone, I'm wondering if somone would be kind enough to put together a workflow for converting P3D aircraft models to FSX? A while ago I converted some myself but, over the years I have developed a cognitive impairment and cant remember what I did. I have tried reading and searching but I find the process difficult to follow:(. I have upgraded to MCX 1.8 but still have 1.7 to be able to follow with. Even if there is maybe a tutorial somewhere covering this that would be awesome also.

The particular model I am having some difficulty with is attached and the MDL file "UTT 787-9 RR P3D" shows in AIAE as MDLX, so I think this is the resultant conversion I made (ages ago). When I did this one I did not notice until now that the front gear is not present when on ground in FSX. It does however show in both MCX and AI aircraft Editor. I do not have P3D only some of the aircraft.
I'd be really grateful for some or any help and BTW I hate this getting older lark, its just not fair sometimes!😔

Question - Why don't you just use the original FS9 version of the the UTT Boeing 787-9 in FSX? It works fine.

You must have it since you did the conversion originally.

No, the conversion was from the P3D version to FSX. These are the files I've attached as above. If I could find FS9 versions I would inded use these but I have not been able to find them and now UTT is defunct I am not able to source them.
Thanks for the suggestion though ;).

1. Import P3D MDL file
2. Export Object as an FSX MDL (file type drop down box)

Thanks Tom. I think that is what I did but I now find I am getting errors. I will try again and post the errors for you to look at.
Cheers
Andrew
