• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

I am new to this forum and find that I need help in using FSXPlanner. I have installed but when I search for airfields, nothing. I'm not sure where I need to browse.
After using Afcad in FS9 I'm desperate to get this to work in FSX.
Many thanks for a great tool.

Do you mean when you use the File -> Find Airport feature that it never finds the airports? Or does it not find your fs10.airports.dat file?

The fs10.airports.dat file should be in the SDK directory under
\Environment Kit\Traffic Toolbox SDK. By default your SDK directory is in C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator SDK. If you installed the SDK somewhere else you will have to find it so that FSX Planner knows where it is.

You also need the deluxe version of the sim in order to have the SDK. Also, it's a separate install from the DVD. So you may have to install it if you have not done so already.

After finding where the SDK was and following the directions in the FSXplanner box I found the location of the airport I wanted. Nothing appeared so searched through the scenery files indicated, when trying to open it, a box came up saying the bgl was not a vald file. I should have said at the start that I'm using 'Just Flight Traffic'
Is this causing a conflict?
Thanks once again.

What do you mean by "Nothing appeared so search through the scenery files indicated"?

After you find the bgl file that contains your airport you will need to convert that bgl file to an xml file using a program like BGL2XML. Then FSX Planner can open the xml file. The ability to open bgl files directly from FSX Planner has not yet been implemented.

Thanks for that, I was totally unaware that an extra step was needed, I'm a newbie with age against me!

If you are not used to decompilers then I would suggest that you downlaod Bgl2Xml GUI from my site (www.scruffyduckscenery.co.uk) and then use the online updater (Help>Check for Updates) to make sure that you have the latest decompiler engine.
