• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MSFS20 How insert the Thumbnail in content manager?

Hello everybody :wave:
I am new here and am getting a lot of information on how to create an airport :wizard:
It seems that everything is going well.
But there's a silly little thing that's driving me crazy: I can't see the thumbnail in the content manager.
Sounds easy, but after 2 unsuccessful days, I give up :confused:

The thumbnail has the same characteristics and dimensions as the default one. I don't understand why it doesn't work.
I can take a screenshot in the hangar, but I think this is for the preview of the planes, not for the airport.
Among the various addons of the community folder, no preview in content manager.
But there is that of LOWI ... so I think it's possible in some way.
But I don't know how... :scratchch

I think there's a bug in the Marketplace object creation. I've been trying to do the same thing, I keep selecting items and renaming them and they keep getting forgotten and not added to the package. Might be best if you add it yourself into the Package and PackageDefinitions and update the Layout.json's and Marketplace.json, and maybe build package will keep it and not delete it. Best option I can think of. I started the process this morning myself, but have to do work first, I'll work it out as best I can tonight.

Maybe somebody else has a better idea, I dunno

I agree I think the first one is for planes. Probably why it's not working. They haven't set it up for scenery yet.
Maybe look at an addon scenery from the marketplace and see what the organization is there?
 
No way... even if you add it later it doesn't work.
It must be a bug, or it only works if your scenario comes from the marketplace
Maybe next sdk update can bring some news about it .. ;)

SDK UPDATE

The SDK team continues to improve many areas of the SDK based on input from the developer community. Recent work focused on:
DevMode Progress:
  • Project Editor:
      • We are working on the Project Editor to facilitate Package exporting for community and marketplace targets. A package validation process is also being added to this new publish process, with user-facing error feedback.
      • Besides improvements on the Project Editor, we are also working on the Console window to improve its ergonomics and add features which should help better understand what is going on in the sim.
  • Aircraft Editor:
      • The tool keeps on being improved thanks to community feedbacks and bug report, which are systematically taken into account and most of the time addressed straight away.
  • Scenery Editor:
      • General stability improvements.
  • Nodal Visual System:
      • We keep making progress on the new nodal visual effects system, which should be ready for production soon.
WebAssembly:
  • We continue to work on improving debugging information and iteration times.
  • We are further extending the GDI+ compatibility layer
We are fixing the external FsPackageTool for users of the Steam version of the game.
  • We updated and fixed part of the documentation.
  • We updated the AirportVehicleSample.
 
No way... even if you add it later it doesn't work.

Yeah, in looking around, I think there are hooks, but, it doesn't work yet. I couldn't find any sign of any of these thumbnails in existing products.
 
It seems to be in addition to, or in place of, the ContentInfo Asset Group and is similar from what I can see
 
I have been struggling with this as well, trying to add a Thumbnail image to a Community Package.

It is interesting to note that none of the ASOBO packages in OFFICIAL produce a thumbnail image in the Content Manager, yet Carenado seem able to do so for their C182T, as well as Release Notes.

I don;t think they got the information to do this from the SDK ?

Currently, theirs is the only package that is displaying a Thumbwheel.

BTW: I am trying to add my Thumbnail "Manually" by editing where needed, and manually setting file sizes, and even that is not working,
 
Actually Aerosoft has it working, too for their package. I don't know about the Carenado, but the Aerosoft package is in the One store directory, as opposed to the Community directory. I, too, have been trying to get this to work, to no avail. Same manifest and layout entries as the Aerosoft files, but, no joy.

I notice in the console that it says something about there being no structure for the content info or marketplace data. I wonder if it has something to do with not being in the OneStore directory, the json processor probably doesn't know what to do with it if it's in Community?

The other thing is that Carenado and Aerosoft are accepted vendors with vendor id's, so that could be something, too.
