Hi

Im just wondering What software is out there to create airports.

i want to make a small airstrip in a town near where i live, and im just wondering what software to use. its not a large airstrip, grass runway + taxiway, enough to land my DA42 at with about 3 or 4 parking spaces.

Any suggestions/Help would be appreciated, or if someone offers to create it for me, even better :D

Heres the Sketch of the airfield, the runway is 2000ft long, but the ramp is not to scale, not sure what size ramp i need to fit atleast 3 DA42's + 1 inside a hangar

If anyone does offer to create this strip, i will provide more info on location etc etc...

Hi,

I would take a look at ADE. It is probably the most used tool to make airports now.

Ive had a Play around with ADE9x but i cant get the hang of it, wondering if anyone is willing to do this strip?

What problems are you having with ADE? If you let us know then maybe we can help and you will have the satisfaction of creating your own airport :)

Theres no problem, i just cant get the hang of it, ive been playing with it for a couple of days and read the tutorials, i can do stuff with stock airports, but when i try to replicate that on creating my own it doesnt work.

OK but you are still not really telling me what is not working. I think you are trying to create a new airport. Does it not compile or can't you add a runway or something like that?

I dont know how to describe what its does, i draw taxiways and that on a stock airports and you can see them, when making my own airport, i draw them n its just a green opaque line

Can you email me the project file that you have been working on? It is the .ad2 file. Send it to jon At scruffyduck.co.uk and I will take a look at it for you.

Dude, thats amazing :)

ive made changes from the origional idea tho, not big ones, just the taxiways are now gravel/concrete instead of grass, but the runway stays as grass.

+ thats one problem im having, in your screenshot you can clearly see the runway and taxiway, when i draw it, all you can see is the lines in the middle with arrows, and i cant figure out the apron either.

Sounds like all your tawiways and runways widths are set to zero. double click on one of your taxiways and set the width 50 or 75 feet. A small runway might be something like 100 feet.

ahh i get it now, still learning the ropes, trying to work out how to add the ramp and scenery objects to it is hard, + taxiway centre lines etc etc

but still, the guy who posted a SS of it above has got the idea of how im trying to get it to look aha

How's it going liamr685? I've not progressed to ADE but use Afcad2 for runways, etc, & Instant Scenery to place objects. You sound a bit more adventurous.....

AFCAD is indeed a very good program. ADE is a successor to AFCAD and hopefully extends it :)
