P3D v4 How to edit a terrain bgl that is the background of an airport made by ADE

Hello,
in the past I created a scenery for an airport using ADE and other tools.
I wanted to have the airport background terrain dated back in the past (the real airport has been modified over the years).
At those time I was able to download tiles of the period I was looking for (year 2009).
I created the bgl and everything works well, but now I would like to trim that terrain background.
Since I'm not able anymore to retrieve ortho tiles of year 2009, I would like to trim the bgl file I created in the past.
Any suggestion, please?
Thanks.

Hi,

What kind of background terrain are you talking about? Is it a photoreal bgl made with resample? In that case it think you can only modify it if you still have the sources you used to make the bgl file.

ADE cannot read, edit, or create terrain bgl files. Any background images are read only.

Hi Arno,
it is a photoreal bgl made with resample.
The point is that all the tools I went through to build photoscenery terrains are not able to retrieve satellite images dated back in the past.
From Google earth I can retrieve the image of the background of the airport in 2009 and I can download it as high resolution, but what to do to compile a bgl with a single shot?
Thanks .

Hi,

So you want to make a new BGL file? I thought you wanted to modify the old one. You don't have the INF files and images from last time?

If you download an image from the web, it will not have geographical location in it, so you will have to tell resample where the image is located. That is something you can do in the INF file, but in general it is easier if you can find georeferenced images.

I have not the original images anymore.
I have to rebuild from a single image.
I have to find a way to write the inf and resample it to create the BGL.
Any tool in your mind that can help?

@ Arno

Hello Arno,
by means of BGLDEC, I was able to get the original high resolution BMP that I used in the past.
Single image, no tiles.
I cut out the portion I don't want anymore.
By means of Google Earth I was able to get the coordinates of the NE corner and the SW corner of the new BMP.
Nw, can I build again a BGL resampling the new single image?
What is the "best" tool and procedure?
Thank you so much.

Sergio
