• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

How to set up 3ds max 9 or 3ds max 2012

I would like that somebody explains what to add as plugin to have a 3ds max working properly

G'day Cobber! For 3ds Max 9 you can install either the FSX sdk or the Prepar3D v1.4 sdk for Max 9: both will compile models for FSX, but make sure you're using 32-bit 3ds Max. For 3ds Max 2012 you need the Prepar3D v1.4 sdk for Max 2012 and you can use either 32-bit or 64-bit Max – there are plugins for both.

There is a lot of info in the Wiki here on installing – and troubleshooting – the FSX sdk. The Prepar3D sdk contains all you need to know about getting the sdk working with Max. You'll need to register at the Prepar3D site to download their sdk, which is free.

If you're building for Prepar3D only you can use the Prepar3D v2.2 sdk.

Don't let either sdk install to its default location, the path name is too long winded and you'll run into permissions problems with Vista/Win7/Win8. Install to something like C:\SDK instead and you'll find setting up XtoMDL for compiling the plugin's output to .mdl much easier.

Nota bene: You don't "install" anything for Max (any version). Instead, you simply point Max to the desired ..\plugins folder in the relevant SDK's path.

In Max, Customize/Configure System Paths/3rd Party Plug-Ins

Click Add, browse to the ..\plugins folder of the relevant SDK, such as:

using aces tool and esp.1 exporter all works properly so thank you much I begin to see the light at the end of the tunnel

It remains to solve my 3ds max 9 (it is not 3ds max2009)

with this : aces tool seems to work but when exporting the effects are not exported: may be I wrong the plugin that export

I'm using pandasoftplugin and it doesnt work properly

can you help what I have to use to export?
 
Don't use the PandaSoft plugin! Use File/Export... and select Flightsim DirectX file (.X) option.

I have more than 2 months for help and Keep for compiling or be read in fsx

I want to know what format to save
as I export to fsx
