• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Ignoring UV Mapping

Hi,
I'm a newbie doing to preliminary testing of making a model in Blender then loading to P3DV4 via MXC.
In Blender I have created the model and added a Material, UV mapped and added a seamless brick texture. In Blender it looks OK. ( Please note scaling of the bricks is correct.

I then exported In Collada format with no errors.
I then imported the File into MCX. No Errors.

As you can see the model is exactly as expected.
In the Material Editor in MCX checked the convert to DDS.
Used the Convert and place object wizard. The conversion was made without any errors.

In P3DV4 the building is in the correct position etc BUT the texture is totally incorrect.

The bricks are not to scale and are the wrong way. !!! ie the UV map I created in Blender has been totally ignored. The texture in P3DV4 looks like exactly like the texture BEFORE I did any scaling and rotating in the UV mapping process.

What am I missing ?!!!!?? I've reviewed the manual and this forum but cannot find anything similar so guess must be something I am missing. Your guidance would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

PS I'm using the latest development version of MCX and Blender 2.8 in order to eventually take advantage of the BPR - if i ever get that far :-(

I use the same route - Blender 2.79 -> Collada -> MCX -> CaPOW ->FSX.

I just wonder if your bgl and DDS files are in their correct scenery/texture locations - maybe an older version of the texture is being used?

Good luck - Dai.

Did you solve this already?

Since the preview in MCX is right I do suspect the texture file as others have indicated already.

Thanks to to all for your suggestions.
However, before seeing/reviewing your options I had deleted all instances of the DAE, DDS, all the UV maps, textures basically everything from blender and MCX apart from the actual mesh.
Then started from scratch with adding materials, uvmapping etc etc. exporting to MCX and then into P3Dv4 (without changing any options in MCX) and lo and behold it worked OK.
Though I'm pleased it has now worked and I can move on to other more complex circumstances, unfortunately I can't say what was the actual problem (prob User !!!!) though I suspect it may be related to the solution mentioned by =RK=
Again thanks for your responses
