Hi Jon
Thanks for your work.
FSX and previous FS have gotten the location of ILS DMEs wrong, (maybe for over 20 years), co-locating them with the localiser. They should be co-located with the glideslope as in the real world. The reason for this is that the loc is at the far end of the runway which allows a correct-sense signal rolling on the landing runway. The gs is around the touchdown point and that is the logical place to put the ILS DME for distance to touchdown.
I used FS9 and Level D 767 to prepare for airline simulator recurrent training and checks for many years and after retirement still like to keep in touch. The wrong location of ILS DMEs spoiled the realism and I used AFCAD 2 to change the location as well as other things.
The Navigraph FMC data for the LD767 will not work under Win 10 in FS9 so I have gone to FSX, however the easy editing of navaid co-ords using AFCAD 2 is not possible currently with ADE. No criticism here, I can see that FSX is more complex and I did manage to edit Cairns (YBCS) which now has an ILS DME on Rwy 15, using your tool by exporting to xml, editing that and re-opening with ADE and saving the project.
My wish is for ADE to allow easy editing of all the navaid co-ords as AFCAD did. A fix for the 20+ year MS error may be asking too much.
Below is a copy and paste from the Hong Kong AIP for the 07L ILS.
All the ILS DMEs I have seen in the real world are next to the glideslope antennae.
LOC 07L
CAT II
I-ZSL 111.1 MHz H24 22 19 21.08N
113 56 02.35E
Unusable beyond 28º right of course
GP 07L I-ZSL 331.7MHz H24 22 18 46.29N
113 54 01.55E
GP 3º (nominal)
DME 07L I-ZSL CH 48X H24 22 18 46.29N
113 54 01.55E
5.33 m Co-located with GP 07L
Cheers, Bruce
