• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

KATL (the Microsoft hand-crafted version) won't import to ADE (alpha 21). I used Patrick Germain's latest Airport2Project, and got an XML that compiles. But this XML crashes ADE.

I'll call this a false alarm. I can generate and compile from ADE now. Something strange on my end, I think.

There is still the problem with ZNQN. With ADE it won't compile. With Patrick Germain's Airport2Project it does.

The problem is in the name=
Patrick's code works, ADE doesn't. Not sure why the code would be different.
 
I think the issue is that we have two (or three) different mechanisms for creating XML. We have Patrick's decompiler which is generating source based on the contents of a bgl file. Obviously the output is a result of the code used and any errors in the code can produce compile failures etc.

ADE generates the source based on my code. There is no pass through of actual XML from the decompiler to the output generated for a build.

ADE creates a project file consisting of classes which make up the airport structure and populates that using conversion from XML to class. My code does the conversion.

Bgl -> XML source (Patrick)
XML Source -> C# classes (Jon)
C# classes -> output XML (Jon)

so there is plenty of opportunity to get it wrong. ADE uses a schema check of the C# source before generating the classes. I don't think it does a schema check of the output XML sent to be build, Traditionally I have relied on the compiler finding errors. Also if a project is loaded (two wat editing) from XML then a schema check is done.

We also have another pathway to generate XML and get errors when two way editing is done

In this case Dev Mode generates project XML as well as ADE. So if the XML generated by Asobo is faulty then that can get sent back to ADE. Asobo XML generation is a black box as far as I can tell.
 
Trying to read the compiler errors out of the SU6 package tool is a nightmare - seems the output has been changed to make it as hard as possible to read. Here is a section of it

It looks like something is causing each item in the error log to duplicate on the following line before the next bit of info ... Does it display that duplication in the original output terminal window? Did asobo change a control character in the output generator code ... Such as for new line ("\n") or the like? Just spitballing some questions in case they help in giving an idea ... My apologies if it isn't helpful

If you change the name="PARKING" to name="NONE" in index 11 through 15 it compiles fine.
