• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Landclass Texture borders

Hi,

i am creating a new landclass set for the european region (screenshots soon available), but there's something i do not understand.
Some textures use a mask or border black-white texture with the "m"-letter naming .Always they have 2048x32 pixels and seem to be divided in 8 sections.

Does anybody know where i can find some informations in the sdk or anywhere else about it and how they work ?

Regards
Stefan :)

Hello:

IMHO, possibly Dick was referring to the info in this excellent tutorial by Holger: ;)

BTW: While you're 'studying-up', a few other "Holger Must-Have's":

Kudos as well to Arnaud Clere for this contribution to the FS Community knowledge base regarding customizing land class: :wizard:

Oh, also my own caveat with regard to implementing Arnaud's slope-texture mods via his lc_lookup.bgl: :p

...as well as Stan's kind clarification on my hasty post (sort of a "Heads up on my Heads Up") !:

PS: And one of Dick's many practical ideas: default texture as "custom" land class (with some 'caveats'): :teacher:

Hope this helps ! :)

Hi Ian:

You mean my numerous and voluminous posts over the past few years here are missing visible and click-able links ?

Hopefully I've not been goofing up by failing to use the "link Icon / dialog" some other forums require for links to be both visible and 'click-able'.

I use FireFox 3.x wherever possible to browse and compose posts in forum threads, and on my Windows XP Pro SP2[+] system, my post above has links which are both visible and click-able.

Hmmm... just viewed the page in Internet Explorer 6.x, and it has the same general appearance as in FireFox... with links which are both visible and click-able.

So I guess you were just indulging in a friendly tease about my "info buffet" posting style... and the OP's seemingly incongruous reply. :p

Allowing for the fact that this is a forum frequented by folks for whom English is a second language, I guess that the OP meant that he should be able to gain some additional insights from the info posted via the 'plethora' of links in this thread. :D

< Ahem > Maybe instead of referring to some of my posts as a "info-buffet", I should use the term "link-fest" in honor of Holger's term "click-fest" when describing some scenery development work !

Hey, as MS seems to no longer honor 'MS-MVPs' for FS endeavors, maybe I'll at least stand a chance of becoming known by the FS Community as... "Duke of URL" ! :rotfl:

Have a great day !

My early model Samsung mobile phone (using "Opera Mini") does a remarkably good job of accurately (or at least functionally) rendering the various FS forums and most other web sites including FS Developer... with both visible and click-able links. ;)

If I hadn't grilled the kid at the phone store about a way to browse the web on "my" terms, I'd still be limited to content AT+T wanted me to see via their 'MediaNet' GUI.

The phone geek said "just between you and me, your phone can run Java apps, so go download 'Opera Mini' for the cell phone from the folks who've made the desktop version for many years".

Oh, did I mention Opera Mini is FREE ? :p

< Cough > Well, now my 'end-user configurable web browser' keeps me from becoming overwhelmingly bored while sitting in the car (waiting for 'her ladyship' to finally leave the current store when we are out spending "quality time" together driving her around between shopping plazas... that don't have computer and bookstores catering to my usual shopping interests) ! :banghead:

Hmmm... I gotta' get a decent laptop so I can keep getting some FS Development work done in "idle" moments !

PS: I got a kick out of the TapaTalk web page catch phrase: "Tapatalk Forum App - Empowering Forum Junkies on-the-go " :D
