• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Just updated from 1.02 to 1.05 and now it wont even open.

Error message under Vista Ultimate is

"Airport Design Editor has stopped working". Windows checks for a solution, cant find one and shuts down.

Help please.
 
Is ADE set to "Run as Administrator" ?

Is ADE set to run in the XP SP2 Compatability Mode ?

Is the folder holding ADE, and the folder holding your ADE working files set so that the Users group has Full Control in the security settings?

Can I confirm that you got two update zip files for 1.05? adeh_105.zip and sde_lib_105.zip? The update requires both files. If you only got adeh_105.zip then you will get a crash.
 
No, i only got the 1 update, the one with the ADE exe the color dat file.

Didn't see a link for the other one in the update blurb. Can i get the file off of your site please?

I hope its this as i run everything as an admin in fully elevation mode.
 
in your current version run Help -> Check ofr Updates. Then Click Check Now - you will see something like this:

There is an updated version of jmFsSceneryLib. You can download it from this link - http://www.scruffyduck.co.uk/updater_files/sde_lib_105.zip. Contains required updates to work with ADE version 1.05. Please read the README!!

You have the latest version of jmCommonLib.

There is an updated version of Airport Design Editor. You can download it from this link - http://www.scruffyduck.co.uk/updater_files/adeh_105.zip. Also requires updated jmSDELib.dll. Please be sure to read the README before installing this and the new library.

Note that there are TWO links - the one at the top is for the Engine and the one at the bottom is for the Application. Make sure to get both. It seems you have only gotten the second.

would it be easier to zip them both together somehow so that all files are in the same download or do they need to be separated for some reason, just a thought as the update window is small enough to hide the second download below the first...........

They are separated because of the different versions that each of the three components can have. If they are all in the same updater then an update to a minor component (like the engine or common library) would force a new version number for the main application. It just happens that at the moment both the engine and main application are being updated on each release as there are changes to both of them. I will look at the implications of using a single updater.
 
I had missed one zip. The file names looked so similar on a quick look is why i missed it.

It might also be an idea to have another way to get the zip files from the web page in case things mess up with the download and install. Just an idea.

I am going to be working on the Airport Design Editor website over the coming days and will make sure to add update files there also
