• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MDL Export error with modified scripts

Hi all,

Sorry for this quite common problem/question but I can't seem to figure this one out. I installed blender and the toolset on a PC that does not contain an installation of FSX itself. I therefore combined the knowledge provided in these two threads to get the toolset working:

Install SDK without FSX: http://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/threads/install-sdk-without-fsx.19042/
SDK installation for FSX SE so tools are avaliable in game and Gmax and Blender2fsx would work!: http://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/th...e-and-gmax-and-blender2fsx-would-work.436059/

For this I took the SDK I had installed and placed it on the other PC and I installed the P3D SDK and followed the instructions from the latter thread.

After a while I managed to get the toolset to initialize without any errors (so far so good). But now it seems the MDL export does not work, I get the following message:

I hope someone can help

Oh, I see, that's good.

What interests me is this: No such file or directory

Does it even export to .X and .XANIM?

It does so I'm kinda confused.. However the .XANIM does not contain any animations because I haven't assigned any yet

Yeah that's confusing.

Are the .MDL creators available? So the modeldef.xml and XtoMDL at the correct positions?

How about materials for the objects? Animations, if present, should have a tag as well. Tagged object without animation or the other way 'round wouldn't work.

Let me know.

MDL creators seem to work, tested those from the FSX as well as those from the P3D SDK using MCX and it seems fine...
I adjusted the modeldef.xml in the scripts, I know that is used for the toolset initialization process. Maybe I should figure out if the XtoMDL path is correct?

Yeah, try that?
