• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

You do not want the jetways to touch your aircraft. As in real life, if properly placed, the jetway will move and attach to your AI automatically ( as will baggage trucks), and to your user plane on command. It works with default aircraft, and addons if the exit points are setup correctly.

What are exit points?

I just tried to match what I saw at KSEA. I installed a new parking spot, labeled it as gate C3. The one next to it was Gate C2, connected with parking link and all that, placed a jetway just like next door, not touching. saved- compiled.

Forgot this was a default airport, (because I got the saveas screen) so I put my save in addon scenery\scenery. reloaded. no jet ways at all, not even the one I made (which I thought at least that one would show up. didn't. so I removed and deleted my work and of course KSEA default comes back- with it's jetways.

With this new program AS there is a way to save without 3D objects. This way you won't get duplicate jetways or taxi signs showing up.

In other words there is something rather simple or a simple step I am missing or ignoring. Man! I hate it when I do things like this! :confused: Bob

I was referring to exit points on the aircraft.

I assume you did this in AS. I don't have that though it looks nifty. Do your changes again, compile, and post your bgl. I'll put it in my FSX and see what happens. I'll make one in ADE that I know works and post it for you to try.

Hi,

Exit points = entry in aircraft.cfg like this one

[exits]
number_of_exits=2
exit.0=0.4,-2.1, 2.5 // (0=Main 1=Passenger)
exit.1=0.4,2.1,2.5 // (0=Main 1=Passenger)

I hate jetways, especially when I carry a suitcase.

In AS (or in ADE) are you adding these jetways as library objects (in ADE that would be right click/Add/3D Object)? If so, they won't move. In ADE you select a parking spot, right click, and choose Add Jetway.

Hope this helps,

At least you got a ladder.

colorful Cessna! Yep- have to carry your own ladder in a Cessna to get to the jetway. :) Other bop

Here is a little airport for you to play with. It is in the middle of nowhere in California. If you blow it up, no one will get hurt. Put the BGL and CVX files in ADDon Scenery and fire up FSX. Name of airport is TEST. If you load yourself ( in a default 737)at Gate 1, you will see a jetway. Push CTRL+J, and the jetway will move to your plane.

Also there is an ADE file you can open and fix some things(like taxiways not wide enough) or add to it(like ISL,parking,more stuff). You won't have duplicate airport problems.

Tgib- adding jetways attached to parking spot not as an object. Used to live in LaJolla in the 4th and 5th grade. Even went to Brown Military Academy - torn down now.

Here's what we've been working on. You will find a csv file from ADE in there. didn't know why I copied and pasted that- didn't change anything.

There is a readme file from the prvious designer. Bill and I have found numerous items that need changing, omitting, or adding. Bill is a retired Navy pilot, used to fly into Hickam on occasion, as well as Kaneohe.

We added the sky lights- the ones that came with the orig weren't too good; allso remade the tower and added overpass walkways behind the tower area to a parking building and a few other items.... covered area for F15's at the ready area. Changed the name on the hangars at Hickham, added many vehicle paths. Bill wanted me to try that- an attempt to keep vehicles off the taxiways (I don't think that's possible- but what the hey.).

You will find AFX and ADE files there. Usually I don't do that; and this jetway problem has been around before I tried ADE. As I said- the fault is not ADE or AFX, it's me I am sure.

zip would not complete sending. Sending scenery first then texture folder- if the texture folder will send. Might be too big.

OK- wonder what's going on... even the zip file of the scenery folder failed to upload! Bob

Hi,

I loaded the ADE files PHNL and TEST from the both of you and on both I have jetway(s), unfortunately.

Roby

That is interesting. My FSX is stock, except for one added airport. Your FSX must be broken. Maybe you dropped it going up the ladder.

Bob

Bob(byjack),

I was referring to your test airport where (I thought) you were saying you did not see the jetway either. Did I understand you wrong?

PS Arno must be very lenient in keeping this thread, that has nothing to do with MCX, alive for so long (or he is hard at work on producing a first born?:)).

I thought you were saying that you saw jetways in Bob's PHNL. I saw no jetways or terminals. My airport was fine. Of course, my FSX is perfect. But then, I try to stay away from ladders.

Bob

Hey all- Roby helped solve this. We started talking about things like exclude rectangles (which btw we had the ability to rotate those).

I had an exclude- well- here's the story:
Jetways now show up. Even put a new one in but can't get that one to move yet. Others move. Problem was- Large exclude box included all the jetways. Exclude properties said autogen, generic buildings AND all objects. That killed the jetways. I changed the properties to include all of the above but not "all objects".

That did the trick. BUT- the original terminal buildings showed up. we now had both. Sooooooooooooo, I went to the stock phnl and found no exclude it that place... so I put one there and made IT all objects. saved as afx_phnlbak.bgl and put that in our scenery. Bingo- it worked. Extra terminal blds gone and jetways still there. I might have tried exclude airport background cvx file. That might have worked as well, but don't mess with success.... for now. Bob

I still haven't been able to place a jetway at TEST but there might be something in the way there also which may be interfering. The best to all of you. Keep in touch please. Bob Lacy
