• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Microsoft Flight Simulators - Programmers Interfaces

I'm mapping out the landscape how i'm going to able to interface with the internals of Microsoft flightsimulator

What are the programmers way-to-interface (exchange internal) data with Microsoft flightsimulator?
So far i've only found "the unofficial ways" in the form of Peter Downson's famous PFC.DLL, FSUIPC.DLL and WideFS
- http://www.schiratti.com/dowson.html
- http://expotec.de/db_dat/WideFS.pdf

and the "official way" MSFS "SimConnect" SDK
- https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc526983.aspx

Questions:
A - Are there any other ways - for a programmer - to "peek and poke" data from and to Microsoft flightsimulator?
B - Are there any other persons then Pete Downson, who have created their own interfaces into MSFS?

I think there are a couple of others out there but I don't recall the names or developers offhand. I don't think they are supported. MS introduced simconnect as the official way to connect and, as I recall, FSUIPC uses it for FSX and later. The developer of AFX and Instant Scenery has his own way to Interface with FS for some functions but not to generally read or write variables.

There are other ways but you have to be skilled at using Cheat Engine and ASM.

Thanks everyone for your answers.

Thanks for the "Cheat Engine" link, that is a whole new way of tackling this challenge Naruto-kun :-)
