• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Missing Ground Polygon Section

First, thank you Arno for your wonderful tool.

Using the Ground Poly Wizard. All goes fine in the setup. But in FS one particular piece of my poly disappears up close and reappears at distance. (For example, greater than 48x Zoom in FSX).
I checked the created BGL in MCX and the piece appears fine (attached image number 2), but in FS it does not appear when zoomed in close (attached image number 1).

I can confirm that the entire area is of the same altitude. Any ideas what the issue might be?

Hi,

I would indeed first check if the flatten is covering the whole area. And check if the altitude you entered in the wizard (in meters) is the same as the flatten altitude.

Yes, sorry if I was not clear. That is what I meant. I used a flatten. I had originally thought that an altitude of 0 in the wizard was AGL, but I have since then corrected it to match my airport flatten altitude and still no change. Most appear, one does not.

Try placing that polygon/polygons at 0.01 ft/m above the ground in the wizard instead of exactly on the ground?

Hi,

Maybe you can post your ground polygon and flatten bgl files, so that we can test it?

I fixed the issue. Thank you for your help Arno and Tgibson.
Your comment on raising the polygons slightly lead me to investigate the reference points. Turns out I had a hydro polygon, near where the water appears in the first attachment, that caused the reference point of that group of ground polys to be different from the rest, thus it was underground.

I unchecked the group poly into 500m sections, instead, using a single reference point at the center. That fixed it. All level and showing.

Glad to hear you fixed it. Seems like not the entire area was flattened to the same altitude then.
