• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Still plugging along with small uncomplicated airports that don't include some things being reported, but created some thoughts anyway.

1. The default apron surfaces selectable in ADE appear to be the same as for FSX, but editing aprons provides a much longer list of MSFS surfaces. Unfortunately, different aprons with the same surface name from this list don't always appear the same in the sim.

2. No options available for polygon editing.

3. A scenery polygon with flatten flagged true result in a bottomless pit. I see this is a reported issue that is being fixed.

4. Need more library objects. Many available don't work.

5. Need means to exclude runway lights at taxiways. Is it even possible? I see that Asobo has recessed some into the pavement.

1. Please read section 20 of the notes. Be aware that there is a surface type which mirrors the old FSX surface but the actual surface is a new Material based surface that applies to runways and taxiways as well. So there are a whole bunch of new surfaces which have the type Asphalt and will not look the same. Also aprons can have coloration which changes their appearance. I would expect that aprons that have identical surface material and coloration settings would look the same but not if they are just the same surface type.

2. Sorry I don't understand that one

3. Yes it is fixed and will be in the next alpha

4. Well that is down to the community. ADE does support adding user glTF models and I guess there will be other libraries around.

5. I don't know about that one. Section 9 of the notes covers delete/exclude mechanisms but they don't cover lights I think. Painted lines can be used, apron edge lights work. Otherwise I would expect it to be down to the properties but I don't know

1. Thanks for the reminder to read the notes. Lots to absorb there.

2. I was referring to the edit object selection window that appears from the right-click on a polygon. It only allows User Locked and Comments. I guess I need to read the notes and use Ctrl-Enter to view other options.

4. Agreed.

5. I solved that one. The stock airports I have encountered have the taxiways created from aprons with a taxipath added for access to the runway. The taxipath is only 25 feet wide, which doesn't always impact the runway light. If you widen the taxipath enough to cover the light, it recesses it into the pavement.

2. Yes - to be honest you need to use Ctrl+Enter until the common property dialog is updated.

5. Great
