• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

P3D v5 Mouse rectangles and their xml code...

Hello,
I have extracted some mouse rectangles of a VC model by isolating that area and tried to insert it into another aircraft model via MCX, however, the related xml code, that should, in this case, switch a zoomfactor in a MFD once clicked, does not work in the new model. The gauges are all there in the aircraft panel folder, however I have a clickspot now, but without any function. The xml code is still there but it does not work in the new aircraft model.

What are the relations between mouse rectangles, the xml code and gauges? I am trying to learn here.

Thank you

Are all the necessary gauges listed in the panel.cfg file?
The entries are there in the panel cfg, only their order is different. I have placed a flir gauge there, and tried now also to integrate the zoom button mouse rectangles, and as said the space is clickable but has no function. I will recheck for the gauges.

Do you know if I can find out by the mouse rectangle itself or its xml code what gauges are related to it?

Did you copy the modeldef entry for the mouse rectangle to the other model as well?

Depends, if it is a custom definition it might not be in your modeldef.xml file, so then you need to actively put it in there.

This is what the modeldef section looks like, of the isolated mouse rectangle part of the model. I copied this into the other model.

If you copied them into the modeldef after importing the other model and then assigned these custom mouse rectangle types it should be OK.

I see they use L variables, so next thing to check is if the gauge that provides them is also active.
