• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

moving deafault beacon

I've tried searching but found nothing. Is there a way to move the default beacon spawn? I created an airport that was excluded from the initial release but the beacon for it was there. I cant seem to find a way to select it and its right in the middle of my runway. (not even close to the correct location according to the airport diagram)
 
Do you mean beacon or tower object?
The beacon which when in game spawns as the beacon tower. In the SDK I cant find a way to move it and it currently spawns in edge of one of my runways. The airport itself wasnt included in default MSFS but the beacon was there strangely enough. I'm trying to make the airport but the beacon tower in game spoils the immersion when its coming out of the runway.

Thanks, I missed that choice in the Library items. He may want to choose beacon, too?

So, to replace the massive beacon at my local airport that was in the wrong location anyway, after I suppressed it, I created another beacon tower in the correct location and scaled it at 0.42 and turned on the beacon. Unfortunately, the beacon location does not scale with the geometry and is 50 ft in the air as opposed to 25 ft.

Where do I find the xml code for a beacon so I can turn off the beacon on the tower and add one in which I can control its location?

So I fixed (hacked) the problem by creating a tower without a beacon in the correct location, then I buried one in the ground at the same location with the beacon turned on at a depth to get the light at the correct height.

I did find a beacon fx, but I don't know what terms to use to get it to operate?

Also, this beacon is on all the time, is there an option to add to get it to operate at night and during IFR?
 
A better hack is to scale the beacon with the light on to .05 so it can't be seen, then you can put it at any height.
Man I hope we get some new beacon models soon.
