• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MSFS MSFS2020 SDK, is it available??

Hi. I have developed for FSX and X-Plane, and now I would like to do the same in MSFS2020. But I can't find the SDK. Is it available for the general public?
Regards.

any way of getting it without the game? I do not want to spend $$$ only for the SDK....

Since the SDK uses internal tools and compilers from the sim the SDK alone is useless

The SDK is downloadable from outside the sim (a simple MSI package) and the documentation can be viewed directly from there without the sim entirely (html pages).

Edit: The download link however appears to be generated by the sim and could be unique, so a registered license of MFS may still be required, which is probably appropriate.

I do not believe it is possible to get the SDK outside the developers mode in sim. Of course once you download it you have an installer for it on your system. Again though without the sim it is not going to be much use. The developer mode appears to be built in and the external package tool calls the sim executable. It has SimConnect in it but that is no secret and I think the FSX one might work although the ASB guys are clearly working on the F20 version

Run the sim. Go to Options > General and look for the one for Developer Mode. Turn it on and save it.

You should now have a menu at the top left. Goto Help and download the SDK

We have asked Asobo for the ability to have a standalone executable that does not require the sim to build packages without a sim install and graphics card so it can be run on a CI server. The request has been acknowledge but nothing has been committed to.

Thank you very much for your information regarding the "Developers" tab. I select DEVELOPER MODE TO BE "ON", but I do not have the menu on the left hand corner. I don't have the menu at all. Any thoughts will be appreciated.

Reading the SDK it doesn't look as difficult to alter scenery for 2020 as it does to alter aircraft. All I would really need as I create Farm Strips is a programme to exclude Facades and trees, leaving the airfield as it is and the ability to place, mdl's from model libraries. Sounds simple I know but I think someone is well capable of doing it. A programme like FSX2XPLANE would be great. Neil
