• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSX MSFS2020 Simobjects Airplane Folder

Hi guys, after a lot of trouble I finally was able to download MSFS 2020 and installed it on a secondary brand new drive E because my principal drive C has insufficient space.
Having done this, I just can not find where is MSFS 2020 main folder located, nor can I find the Sim Objects/Airplane Folder location.
Appreciate if someone can help me out and show me where and how to find them.
There is also no MSFS.exe folder nor an icon has been created on my desktop? which is all very odd tome.

Where on the E drive did you put your MSFS?

I have a F drive. I told the install to put it in F:/MSFS.

So my folder to the simobjects and EVERYTHING else is

F:\MSFS\Official\OneStore

Then you see the VFS folders. (VFS - Virtual file system)

I just indicated to install MSFS 2020 on my E drive and this are the folders that show:
1-Program Files:a click shows: Modifiable windos apps
2-Windows apps Without permission
3-wpsystem: following you instruction, its path led me to ONE Store which I can see has a lot of information regarding planes,airport etc.
Seems completly different than the old Microsoft Flight Simulator and P3D main folders and a lot more complicated.
Guess this is where addons should be placed? compatible aircraft for instance?
What about the MSFS2020.exe is it also there? because the installation did not place and icon in the Desktop so as to start the SIM from there?

You can get a desktop icon by either clicking on the Windows icon in the lower left of screen, look for Microsoft Flight Simulator in the programs list and then drag it onto the desktop to create a link.

Or open the Run dialog (WINKEY + R), type shell:AppsFolder and then click OK to view this folder. Find Microsoft Flight Simulator, right-click it, and choose Create shortcut from the pop-up menu that appears.

You should not need to touch the app folder which contains the .exe. MS makes it very hard to do for a start and there is nothing in there you need to mess with (unless you are a developer and need something very specific).

One level up from the OneStore folder there should be Official (which leads to OneStore) and Community folders. Addons go in the Community folder. Don't mess with anything in the Official folder.

Took a look and still can't manage to get hold of the aircraft folder.
I use fsrepaint to paint airplanes and it needs the Flight Simulator to locate the installed airplanes, so I gave the following path, E:\websystem\S-1-5-21---------rar\appdata\local\packages\MSFS8wyb3-----\localcashe\packages\oficial\onestore, & it did not work. Guess that a similar problem will occur with Airport Design Editor when the scenery cfg folder, the FS Main Folder ,the bglcomp folfer & ShpZvec Folders need to be set up.
 
Thanks for the info about ADE for MSFS 2020 beta, guess that the problem to find the paths for the Scenery Folder, the Main FS Folder & the bglcomp & ShpZvec, will be the same, I mean where are there in MSFS2020?

You'll see that it contains most of the folders you would have found in FSX.

But MSFS contains an interesting new folder system. This allows MSFS to virtually combine all the folders even if they are in different locations. For example, look at any of the Asobo-aircraft folders and they will all have a SimObjects folder within just like FSX. Instead of all the aircraft being put inside the SimObjects folder like FSX they are now all in individual folders and they are then virtually combined by MSFS. Same with the Asobo-airport folders but they all have a scenery folder.

I am still studying the Official One Store page and noticed thar everyeach of the folders there, airplanes, airports, have 3 locks, 2 inside the folder, 1 outside. does this means that they are in effect locked? and if so what is there to do? unlock them? please advice, and sorry for my lack of knowledge but never thought that this SIM would be so different that the old FSX and P3D
