• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Need help with ground

Okay,
So I started making this airport in ADE 175, and had started on the Flatten poly. The problem is, every time I add the flatten, all I get is ground coming through my runways, and trees all over. What do I do? Is it because the ground in FSX Stock Colorado is too hilly? (Please note that the airport is not finished, I was trying to do an Alpha test and Check)

If it is only the runway that is having this problem, check the runway's elevation (it's separate from the airport's elevation).

If you are still having trouble, try placing the flatten at 6380.9 feet.

Another thing you can try is to change the elevation of the airport using Tools/Change Airport Reference Data, which will put a stub file into the Scenery/World/scenery folder, which helps with some elevation issues. You can change it to something else, then change it back to the original value, I think. To test this theory before doing something irreversible just put a copy of your ADE airport BGL file into the Scenery/World/scenery folder and check that. Remove it when finished with testing.

Okay, put the Airport BGL with the ALT Bgl in the Scenery/World/Scenery folder. Got rid of the Autogen error, now to figure out why there are still hills and dips in my airport, I may try adding an extra flatten, adding a custom land class, or a ground poly.

Extra flattens work for me, usually.

And you do not need the airport BGL along with the ALT BGL file - the ALT should be all you need.

Alright, So, unfortunately, I have tried everything. And nothing works. I don't know if the area I'm working in is just to hilly, or that I'm using FSX:SE with the P3DV4 SDK. Unfortunately, I even made a whole new airport, and the same thing happened. I may just scrap the idea, and maybe see if anyone who has better results can take a commission :p Thank you Tgibson for all the help, and taking the time to help. (love the CalClassics btw!)

If you are using FSX then you should be using the P3D 1.4 SDK, not the V4 version.
