• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Cant seem to get this installed. Would like to use this program but since it requires .net 3.5 and I cant download from the MS site what other options do I have? I can get the bootstrap installer but when it tries to access the MS site for the files it times out and all attempts to get it from the MS site end in a failed/retry page error.

Using XP here
 
do you have dotNET 2.0 installed? If so try running ADE - it may work for you
 
Ive got .net 2.0 yes. I'd like to install the latest version of this program though and the install fails at that point telling me to install 3.5
 
Yeah thats it but Im unable to download anything from MS and cannot figure out why. Services/DNS/all kinds of troubleshooting done and no luck. Use Firefox as my browser. Found out doing a lot of research Im not the only comcast user who has this problem. Not seen a fix for it yet.
 
If you have a copy of IE then you might want to try that. There are a couple of things I cannot do on MS sites using Firefox but switching to IE works. Not sure what else to suggest.
 
I get the same problem whether I use IE or FF. I can get the exe and when it tries to download from the MS servers it just times out on the installer.

Talk about frustrating!!!! Wont be able to install this without it. Oh well.

You can not download anything from Microsoft using FF. You should have gotten an error saying so when you tried. At least thats what happens to me using Vista. I think it is the same with XP. Try opening IE and changing your default borwser to IE and try again. Just opening IE and trying to download may not work as your computer may still try to download in FF.

Hi all,

i have got a similar problem. actually i can download ms dotnet 3.5, but it will not install because it cannot download some file from ms during the installation. so i tried the new 4.0 beta, which installs! but, helas - ADE misses 3.5 ! so, finally i tried the full install package proposed by Sandra - to no effect: early during this installation the pc shuts down and restarts.

no joy - any idea is welcomed.

If you have the feeling that your .NET setup is completely messed up, you can try this cleanup tool. Read the description carefully and it is not granted that this will solve the issue - but on the other hand then most likely only an OS re-installation could.

Any Virus or Firewall Program are running during the Install???????

thx all for your answers. problem solved: i uninstalled all versions of dotnet except 2.0 and then installed 3.5 via "Sandra's package". at the end it said "uninstall complete", but it actually installed fine. and ADE9X works.
