• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSX NO LIGHTS !!!??????

I dont understand why EVERY aircraft that I download has NO inside cabin lights (window lights) at night. It remains dark. WHY ????????????????????? Some of the downloaded aircrafts works fine but the majority dont work. This seems to be a frequent problem. Is there anything that can be done to get it working ??? Any tweaks ??? Can I add a file ???? This is very frustrating............................................

If you are using P3Dv5 aircraft in P3Dv6, LMCO changed the way that lighting effects files display between the two versions (they are much dimmer). You may be able to increase the brightness by identifying which fx files come with the aircraft and editing them. If it's MSFS, I have no idea. Maybe they don't have internal lighting? Even in P3D it's not the easiest thing to set up.

Yes, I am still using the FSX. Is the FS 2024 worth buying and trying? is there a major significant difference between FSX and FS2024 ??????

Ah. I never really got involved with effects for FS2K4/FSX, so I can't give you a straight answer on that. The theory goes that you should be able to add internal lights by creating effects and adding them to the aircraft.cfg file, but you would also need to write a C/C++ gauge that is capable of turning the effects on and off. There's no shortcut to that.

So no cabin lights come on when you press the L key? Can you give a link to a freeware example?

Yesssssirrrrrrr. I have tried the "L" key and the CTRL L and nothing. The landing lights will ALWAYS come on, but the passenger cabin windows are all dark. I have tried to copy the cabin lights from a texture file from another aircraft that works and still nothing. I went under the aircraft CFG file and found the LIGHTS section but there was nothing that said cabin window lights. I tried to paste and replace the lights section from another similar aircraft where the lights work and still nothing. I looked under the PANEL CFG and the MODEL CFG files and there was NO lights section in those files. I am just confused how the cabin lights work on some aircraft but not in a majority of the aircrafts. There has to be a way to do it ??? Even if I was taught how to repaint an aircraft or rebuild an aircraft and include the cabin lights?

An example would be this aircraft on SimViation.

I think you didn't use the Utility included .
The reason why doesn't be bright on night is simple , it's made like that.

REAL operation .. when take off and landing , makes the cabin light dark for emergency escape.
And when on air or taxing .. make it bright so open the Utility and switch on.

For FSX, 'cabin lights' will simply be part of the night (LM) texture, if the author decided to include one. That is, the windows are coloured so that they appear to be lit. In P3D, these textures can be applied via a Lua script, which allows some tuning of when the lights appear and disappear. I have no idea how it's done in FS2020 or 2024, but that's not relevant to FSX. If there are no cabin lights showing, it's quite possible the author didn't include them

Hmmmm. Ok and im assuming there is no way to add them ??? Is there a way to paint or color the windows to look like its lit at night?

Just saying at a OLD common sense won't solve.
At this model window light is on different parts .
And switch on/off by the Utility panel.

At this case This person just don't know about a things called panel.

And one more is the guy who packed and checked is not doing things correct.
SIMVIATION is a well known place for that.

So WE DON'T SUPPORT about their package.
Use RIKOOO instead , he checks better.
This is how it looks like when using a animation /light control guage which SIMVIATION didn't include in their package.
It MUST BE included in panel.cfg's vcockpit section and guages in the panel folder.

If want those FIREBALL wingtip lights , needs to disable those but at that case , person who pack must add a effects to the aircraft.cfg so make those bright.
But person who packed didn't make it correct.
