• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

I tried to get rid of some unneccessary shadows on my FS9 models with MCX, but after opening the FS9 MDL, editing the materials in the material editor and exporting it as an FS9 MDL the no shadow is set to false again after reloading the file in MCX. Do I need to change anything else in order for the noshadow to work properly?

I guess Arno is busy painting the baby room. :D

If you find the time, I'm sure it's just a mistake on my side, but I can't seem to find it... :o

I know it's readable in the MDL because MDL Tweaker II does it, but that's all I know...

Even if I remove the shadow in MDLTweakerII and load the MDL in MCX the material editor shows "noshadow - false". :scratchch

But if you reload it into MDL Tweaker II it will say "Add shadow" instead of "Remove Shadow", so it can be read. :)

Yes, I guess it is a MCX issue then - that's why I posted it here. ;)

Hi Thorsten,

The noshadow material option is only valid for FSX models. For FS2004 models it is not used.

Makes sense. So the only way to get rid of FS9 mdl shadows is to export with the no shadow option or use MDLtweaker?

Yes. Or add a custom shadow model, but that's functionality I only just started working on :).
