• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

hello of all,

i have 2 big problems, the first : my english is very bad :o
the second : my ADE 150 with FSX + FS 9 is now crazy. even when i want to add a new *.bgl into the Libraryobjectmanger it shows me a very large dimension with 10000 meters. for exampel :

My chinook47 has an X about 9542.0 meters and the Y ist 10000.0
i test it now with new library.bgl's and it 's the same.

i have a lot of thumbnails for all this about 2000 , i dont want to kill them all.
maybe anyone can help me with a tip ?

suplemtation : the airports are ready the objects looks good with the right dimensions !

Is this error just in the Library Object Manager Display or are the objects also being shown as very large rectangles when placed in ADE?

This is happening sometimes to me too, with some objects: they both have huge sizes out of scale and appear as huge rectangles in the Editor.

I believe these are objects that have been modeled with the wrong sizes from the start: am I assuming correctly?

The only solution when this happens is to find the correct real sizes and put them in the object properties...

I remember something like this in Area 51. Let me have a quick look.

It's not in the default AR51, it's in my modified version that has the UFO placed in the apron where it is in the mission.

Library object; UFO takeoff. Huge, once placed, it needs to be hidden before you can see anything else. on the airport.

Can you please send me the library that contains the object?

It's the default;

.. Scenery\Global\scenery\vehicles_aircraft.bgl

'UFO landing'
'UFO takeoff'

These look like very strange objects. The footprint is very large and the positioning of the reference point is even further off. This is an issue with the object itself. ADE is just reading this information from the model file. I assume the object is normal size in FSX? If so then the designer somehow created a very large footprint and put in a very small object. I would also suspect that the object does not get placed where you expect it.....

Hi,

They are animated objects. That is why the bounding box is so big.
As for the Chinook, the solution is easy when using ModelconverterX, i.e. center the object, scale and compile again.

OK - then it is somewhat outside the remit of ADE :o

Possibly so: that or either the author is not placing the objects in the Point of Origin (0,0,0,) in the modeler... I'm just shooting in the dark, since I never used GMax, but I have a bit of experience with Maya, C4D and LW...

Besides ModelconverterX, it is also possible resizing the object directly in ADE, as I recall I did for some Helicopters: I have to check but I believe these were UH-60 and not CH, but nevertheless had the rotating props (animated) and were some miles long and wide.

As simple as it is, you can just place the monster in your scenery, resize it to the right dimensions, copy and paste to your heart content...
