• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSXA Oil Storage Tank Unwanted

I have had this problem since I created this airport back in 2018 and asked for help back then but I guess from the fact it's still there, there were no suggestions at that time. Yesterday I tried both an exclusion rectangle over it AND also an airport background with autogen exclusion and flatten and that did not get rid of it either. Though it was designed for FSX, I uploaded it and am successfully using it in Prepar3D V4.5 which is what I now actively fly but that dastardly tank is still there. I even tried to choose "none" for autogen buildings in P3D but that did nothing. Attached is the ADEx airport file and also a screenshot topdown of the stupid thing. HELP PLEASE!

You have to put your exclude rectangle in the right place.
Then the oil tank will have disappeared.

I have set your exclude...
<ExclusionRectangle
latitudeMinimum="33.4141583"
latitudeMaximum="33.4150893"
longitudeMinimum="-80.8513235"
longitudeMaximum="-80.8484168"
excludeAllObjects="TRUE"/>

to here...
<ExclusionRectangle
latitudeMinimum="33.4131481"
latitudeMaximum="33.4140795"
longitudeMinimum="-80.8508867"
longitudeMaximum="-80.8496806"
excludeAllObjects="TRUE"/>

Just read and understand the manual!

Open your airport in ADE.
Set a position marker (red cross on the right above the exclude rectangle).
Double-click on the red cross to open a window.
Here you can now change/enter the coordinates.
Repeat the whole process 3 more times...
Now draw an exclude rectangle over the four red crosses.

Or...
If this is too complicated for you.
Start your P3D and ADE.
Place your airplane in the middle of the oil tank.
Connect ADE to the P3D.
Now you can see your airplane in ADE.
Now simply draw an exclude around the airplane.
Make the exclude slightly larger than the airplane.

I can definitely do that and thank you for explaining how. I kept trying to change the coordinates in the List of excludes in ADE and it wouldn't do it. If Jon was still alive I would suggest it to him because that would have been so much simpler. Have a good night and thank you for replying so late by you.

I am sooooo sorry for I thought that I had heard that. I knew that Jon had retired from flight simming but in error I thought someone said he had died. I am very glad that he is still with us. I am so grateful for all the good things he did for the flight simulation community and Jon I hope that you are well and enjoying your retirement. God bless you and yours. In the Navy when we had made a "boo-boo" we said MY FACE IS RED, OUT! It is indeed right now. Mark Twain said "the news of my demise has been greatly exagerated". Watched the movie Big Jake with John Wayne and Richard Boone the other night and I remember that every time John Wayne killed another bad guy, the bad guy would say..."I thought you were dead" as he got shot. See, never believe scuttlebutt, get the facts straight. Again, Jon forgive my error.

On another note...thank you Bushpilot for showing me how to get rid of that pesky oil tank from the center of the runway by using the plane and then drawing an exclude rectangle around it with Jon's great ADE software I have used so many times. Also thank you Jon for the free Pro too.
