• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hello,

I am doing a small application in vb.net, I'm trying to get the name of the park where it is located a plane, but I see the necessary parameters. Please I need help. Thank you.

Regards,
Jesus

Hi Jesus

Do you need to know position of user aircraft or AI aircraft?

As I'm not at the proper computer right now so I could not test it, but I think you can get this info via 'AI TRAFFIC ASSIGNED PARKING' variable even for user aircraft.
BUT please be aware this is ASSIGNED parking, not the real one - in case if user does not follow ATC instructions.

I'm bit afraid you'd need to read Lat/Lon positions of gates on given airport and then calculate which one is the closest one.

Hello Premek,

thanks for responding. What I want is to know which is parking the plane, or I imagine I land and into the parking lot, when I arrive and parked, I want you to tell me where I'm parking.

Regards,
Jesus

you'd need to read Lat/Lon positions of gates on given airport and then calculate which one is the closest one.

That would be a pretty straight forward calculation provided that you had a list of the parking spots at the airport and their coordinates. Somewhere along the way you would need to scan the airport code and extract the parking spots and their coordinates. Since developers add, delete, edit or otherwise move spots this would require finding the currently active spots and use that data. Generally the last loaded Bgl file for the airport will trump the stock airport data and any addons that load prior to the last.
