• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

which sim?

I am not sure what you mean by zones...............

I'm not sure what the wording is, but it is where the Aircraft park. Those colored round circles where they are hooked up to the....

I just checked my referents book and it says Parking Spot, (not Zone) my bglis right below the ad2.in the active scenery folder

your saying the .ad2 file is in the scenery folder?
The ad2 file is for ADE only.
FS9 /FSX read BGL files only for scenery.

You need to compile the scenery in the FILE menu option. Place the resulting BGL files in the addon/scenery folder.

So to be clear you are adding parking spots but they are not showing up in FSX - is that right?

First point is Kevin's - you need to put a compiled Bgl file into Addon Scenery\Scenery. you need to be sure that FSX is not running when you do this.

Second can I understand what you mean by not showing up? Are they not visually present or can you not park your aircraft there?

Third if you have added new parking then did you connect it to the taxi network?

I have done this for many years useing ADE and found this problem. Every thing is where it is suppost to be, Saves okay, compiles okay. AI Aircraft fly in and fly out but pick thier own parking spots. The parking spots I added have the designations for each aircraft placed correctly in each parking spot. All parking spots are designed for the aircrafts wing span according to the documents I have. (FSX Commercial Aircraft Wing Span Values). What I will try is...use a stock airport and dress it up to receive ai aircraft with new parking spots. There must be an answer somewhere. Frank!

In ADE, set a parking code for the spot and in the aircraft.cfg set the same code in atc_parking_codes=XXX in the [fltsim.n] sectiion:

This won't guarantee that an AI aircraft will park at the correct spot, but it should 99% of the time.

not forgetting the radius of the parking spot for FSX is set at "Half" the wing span found in the aircraft's cfg,
as you mentioned your parking spots are "Aircraft wing span" only

When I add a parking spot in my airport no matter which aircraft goes there, I will name it 200. I don't think the numbers have to be in sequence. I then go into my Flight simulator, pick an aircraft to fly, and want it to start at the parking spot 200. But the number 200 is not listed. So I have to start my aircraft at some other numbered parking spot that is already listed. I tried other numbers but they will not show. The parking spots numbers are okay in ADE but will not show in FSX. This is my problem. Frank!

If 200 is not in the selection list, your compiled bgl is is not in an active scenery area or there is another bgl in a higher scenery area.

Create a new folder, say C:\MyAirfield and in that folder create another folder called Scenery. Put your compiled bgl into C:\MyAirfield\Scenery and in FSX, add C:\MyAirfield into the Scenery Library.

I tried your way and could not get it to show in FSX.

Previously I went to a stock airport, installed a parking spot, gave it a number and it too never should up in FSX.

I am useing Windows 7 premium, 64bit FSX Deluxe witth acceleration and a lot of patients.

I think we need to see the project file. Please attach the .ad2 project file to a post here so that we can check it out.

To confirm the problem: You add a new parking spot but it does not appear in the list of locations that you can start from when you access the airport in the FSX list. Is that so?

That is correct. I am now looking for the project file, wherever that is.

Well I sincerely hope that you are loading your work from the project file (.ad2 extension) and not loading back the Bgl file you created. ADE works with the Project File. It contains information that cannot be compiled into the Bgl file. I don't think this would cause your problem but it would not help if you load the compiled Bgl file into ADE each time you want to work on the airport.

I re-install ADE and the problem is still there. This re-install also lost colors (Turned all White) on 4 aircraft and I lost 1 aircraft completely. Seems like something is watching what I have and starts to change things. The aircraft I lost was military. Maybe I can find the download. (Aren't we having fun?) :p Frank!

Hi Frank

I am not sure why you re-installed ADE. It may be that you have gone back to an earlier set of defaults.

What we need to see is the airport you were working on. Any problems are with the airport not with ADE. If you can't find a project file then the Bgl file you created would help.
