• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hi

I am currently trying to get a object to show when a weight is put in to a station on the aircraft.
So for instance I type 188 pounds into station 1 in the payload manager it shows a object, then I type 0 pounds in the same station and the object disappears. I know this is done through the modeldef.xml but just cant get it to work? This is the code i have tried but it didn't work any ideas where I am going wrong
Code:
    <part>
        <name>AIM-9X_STA1</name>
        <visible_in_range>
            <parameter>
                <code>
                (A:PAYLOAD STATION WEIGHT:4,pounds) 187.5 &gt; (A:PAYLOAD STATION WEIGHT:4,pounds) 188.5 &lt; &amp;&amp;
                if{ 0 } els{ 1 } }
                </code>
            </parameter>
        <minvalue>1</minvalue>
        </visible_in_range>
    </part>

Many Thanks
Scott

First off, you have postet a code for FS9 and there is no need for the <minvalue>1</minvalue>

Code:
<PartInfo>
        <Name>AIM-9X_STA1</Name>
        <Visibility>
            <Parameter>
            <Code>
           (A:PAYLOAD STATION WEIGHT:4,pounds) 188.5 &gt;
            </Code>
            </Parameter>
        </Visibility>
    </PartInfo>

Now the object will only be shown when the weight is more then 188.5 pounds

Hi thanks for the reply but it still has not worked I am labeling up the part I want to show in 3dsmax with AIM-9X_STA1 do I need to tag it with something in the animation manager?

No, you need to 'tag' it using the Attachpoint Tool's Visibility selection.

Hi still having trouble with this I have selected the part opened the attach point tool selected the name in the drop down fine clicked the attach to selected geometry then nothing happens I export then load fsx and it dont work any ideas

Be sure that the attach tools actually works on the part.
Have sometimes had problems with that.

Right click on the part and go to properties - user defined.
It should read something like
Code:
FSXML = <?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1" ?> <FSMakeMdlData version="9.0"> <Visibility name="engine_intake"> </Visibility> </FSMakeMdlData>

If you have any other difficulties try some other code then just to make sure e.g
(A:ELECTRICAL MASTER BATTERY, bool)

yes that reads
Code:
FSXML = <?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1" ?> <FSMakeMdlData version="9.0"> <Visibility name="AIM-9X_STA1"> </Visibility> </FSMakeMdlData>
will have a play and report back

Got it to work in the end I have had to export from max in a 3ds file open in gmax re-tag everything rexport and it works now just got to find out why its not working in max :/ but it will work for now :)

just one more thing how can I put a range on the weight like it needs to show at 188 pounds but if the weight is 189 pounds or 187 pounds it should disappear again

thats fantastic one small thing the object is hidden when 188 is in and the rest of the time it is there but I need it to be the opposite so any other number in the payload other than 188 the object need to be hidden and only when 188 is in the payload it needs to display

If the <Visibility> isn't working when you export/compile from Max, make absolutely certain that you are using the same modeldef.xml file when compiling!
