• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

P3D v4 placement files

You can view them in the placement editor.

Yes, but only if the object model itself is part of the bgl file as well. Not if the bgl file only contains placement info.

Ah! Thank you. Now I need to find how I can get rid of pesky taxi signs that show up in the middle of the taxiway. hahaha

A couple of questions regarding this thread.
1. When you say placement editor, you are talking about 'Object Placement' button in MCX, correct?
2. When one inputs the LAT/LON directly (not using the map), is there a "save" button or closing that Object Placement window saves it?
3. I loaded a bgl in MCX, see the object (a tree). I then opened Object Placement and gave it new LAT/LON. Exported the bgl. Do not see it in P3D at that location. Re-opending bgl in MCX and reopened Object Placement. The coordinates are wrong. I placed the location in North America and the LAT/LON has it in Europe? What am I doing wrong?

Update to my little scenario. So I was able to have the tree show up where I wanted if I used the map and moved around the crosshairs to the location I wanted. It would not work if I entered in the coordinates directly. Should it not work either way?

Yes.

When you modify the position it is saved in memory automatically. You need to export the scenery to BGL to save this back to disk.

Hard to say that from this description only. After you modified the position did the object show in the placement editor on the right location?

I just tried it here, but when I type th new coordinates in the property grid it works here. I get a BGL file with the right coordinates.
