• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hello all :)

I want to add some dynamic light.fx without attaching it on an object. Can someone help how to do that?

Thanks in advance,
Holger

If that should be for the FSX or P3D, then you can use this template:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="ISO-8859-1"?>
<FSData version="9.0" xmlns:xsi='http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance' xsi:noNamespaceSchemaLocation="bglcomp.xsd">

<SceneryObject lat="51.404990" lon="6.939339" alt="4" pitch="0" bank="0" heading="0" altitudeIsAgl="TRUE" imageComplexity="NORMAL"><Effect effectName="fx_mh_light_lande_t_cntrl" /></SceneryObject>

</FSData>
You have to change the things marked in red so that the light is in the correct place.

Thanks Christian,

yes it is for P3D, sorry forget to mentioned it. Will give it a try :)

Any idea how I can get coordinates for the effect?
And how can I compile that xml file to an bgl file?

Thanks again!!

Best regards,
Holger

Any help how to compile an xml file which only includes effect placements would be very appreciated :)

I have now idea how to do that. Until now I always attached thar affects at an bgl file and placed it with simdirector.

Hi Holger.

If you have installed the P3D SDK, you can navigate to this folder and copy your XML file there: ...\Prepar3D v5 SDK 5.0.31.35253\World\Scenery

p3d_sdk_bglcomp.jpg

Then drag your XML file onto the bglcomp.exe file and you will receive a BGL file :)

If it has to go quickly and I need coordinates, then I do it in Google Maps. To do this, click on the map with the left mouse button on the point where the effect should appear and the coordinates in the decimal system appear at the bottom:

google_maps_koordinaten.jpg

If you now click on these coordinates, they will appear on the left side of the browser ...

google_maps_koordinaten_copy_paste.jpg

... from there they can easily be copied ;-)
